Well with a low amount of miles on my bike I'm starting to notice some decent wear with the front pads, how long do you all go before switching them out?

5k miles? 15k? Couple track days?

Any preferred brands that seem to work better then the others for you?

i replaced my first set after 15000 miles, then replaced my next set after 7 track days.

I have 9k on my bike and checked my pads - they're probably good for at least another 10K - nowhere near running out of pad.

They are very easy to check - it would take about 10 minutes to do all three on my bike.

i would say brake pads and tires are alot alike, in after so many times of heating and cooling [heat cycle], no matter how much tread left they still need to be replaced.

All depends on rider.

I downshift to slow my rate, 90% of the time. So the majority of the time I am only using my brakes below 30mph. I never replaced the pads on my gsxr600, and I had that bike for 22k miles. My zx10r is the same way, and they still look good at 16k miles.

Interesting, never thought of that. Wonder if there is any fact in heat cycles effecting pad performance.

I've never heard that before and would find that hard to believe. I'd have to hear (or read) that come from a brake manufacturer rep.

I have 29k on my bike. I'm on my second set of pads, only because I wanted a better performing set than stock. I don't remember exactly when I replaced them though, maybe under 12k?
