A buddy and I are planning a trip the first weekend of June. We're going through Oklahoma & hitting the Talimena Parkway into Mena, Arkansas. From there, we are going to Northwest Arkansas. Does anybody have any must ride roads up around there?

I live in Illinois, so it's too far away for me. But I've been to Mena before and I'm very jealous of you. I went through there in a cage but they have some VERY nice twisties there! Plus you don't have to worry about drinking and riding there because Mena is in a dry county.

Make sure you post a ride report after you get back.

I find http://www.arkansasrider.com/arkymotoa.html helpful. This book has detailed route recommendations, maps, interesting places to investigate, etc. You almost can't go wrong in northwest Arkansas. I just rode it a couple of days this past weekend. This author loves Rt 123, which is indeed great, but I prefer Rt 16. You also can't go wrong with 7, although it has the most cage traffic, or Rt 21 or Rt 23. They're all twistie.

Fraggle, I mapped a route and Hwy 23 is on it. Looks like I did pretty good. :cheers We may hit 7 on the way back home, if we have time. Jim, thanks. :beer That book will be mine shortly! If anyone else has any good places, let me know. I'll definitely take alot of pics and find a way to put them online, because everyone knows: :needpics Sorry, I always wanted to do that!

I used to live in Little Rock. My "must do" tip is camp out one night at Cove Lake in Mount Magazine. Mt Mag is the highest point in Arkansas, would be a great ride. Cove Lake is a State Park w/ basics.

Other cool spots: Blanchard Caverns, The Buffalo River. If you're into canoeing, try the Buffalo, Spring, or Mullberry Rivers.. pending on water levels. The Buffalo is (usually) a nice lazy float w/ awesome bluffs.

This was my favorite kind of Arkansas road sign: :D

Yeah, I remember driving near Mena and seeing a legitimate sign that read something like "12 people killed on this road last year". A friend of mine took a picture of it. By driving on that road myself, I have no doubt the sign is accurate.

As you start north from Russellville on Rt 7, you'll see that sign except it says for the next 80 some odd miles, not just three.

I mapped it out, and it's about a 240 round trip from Eureka Springs to Russellville and back. We may go back home that way. There are alot of little road trips we are going to take while up there. I don't think a weekend will be enough.
