Then when he puts the cuffs on you, and it cost you 2500 bucks later you will wish you pulled over and got that 200 dollar fine. But I have to agree if it would work I would love to see someone do it! :D

If you're asking because you've got a court date coming, don't bother...In court the po-po always win...
That's not exactly true. I've personally been to court many times and won. It all depends on the circumstances......oh, and having a good lawyer doesn't hurt. :D

I agree with Jerry that the odds are against you when it comes to paying the $200 or less ticket. Either you pay with your life or expensive ass plastics, or as he said court costs.

I've always pulled over if an officer is directly behind me and they've always thanked me for not running and let me go with a warning. Of course I wasnt doing 142mph in a 55mph zone, but still I was breaking the law.

In my opinion, if a cop sees you traveling at excessive speeds then he can probably justify felony endagerment or something to that effect (felony wreckless driving) so that warrants a chase right there.

Bottom line. Don't run if you can see the flashing lights reflecting off of your visor.

I watch cops all the time....basically the chase law is if the chasee is running the risk of endangering public or property as a result of the chase then the cop must back off and either quit the chase or relieve the pressure of the chasee wanting to cause harm. Don't think it works for bikes tho cause they don't cause much damage when hitting something as opposed to a car could plow over a crowd of people......

It depends on the agency and their policy , its up in the air unless you know their policy .
That's the truth.... I know a few polk county sheriff deputies and they all told me that they usually won't even try to pull a bike because they can't chase them. They are not allowed to chase bikes at all. They do admit that some of the "rookie" deputies break the rules because they don't like to have someone take off on them. So just watch out. I've learned that cops can be VERY shady. Had a couple of problems with them over the past month or so. It always helps to know people in high places (one more reason why I want Kirk Warren to be elected sheriff :D )

There is NO such law at this time governed by the state of florida. Agencies have their own written policy and procedures regarding pursuits. Yes, because of the danger to the public, these policies have become much stricter.

Common sense officers don't pursue motorcycles. The key phrase all of you need to remember is.... Does the need to immediately apprehend the suspect outweigh the danger to the public?
