i was wondering if you fellas could give me a few tips on deciding on a bike...financing options and maybe insurance in the area....just curious as to how much insurance is going to run

narrowed it down to a cbr600rr or a kawasaki 636

I have an 04 636, that I pay $375 a year, for full covereage. Not too bad in my book. So no arms and legs from me.

As for financeing, best thing I have seen lately is Yamaha is havein a special $40 a month, any bike, for 2 years, at like 4% interest. Then after that, it goes to the normal rate, depending on your credit.

Stay Away from Motorcycle City on Boulderhighway. I think if I was to be buyin another bike right now, I would go to Carter powersports, but that is just a personal preferance.

Welcome to town..

Welcome to Vegas and the board Jon.

I noticed Don failed to tell you where he is getting such a great insurance rate. If memory serves, I think he uses Country Insurance. Another place that gives pretty good rates is State Farm. Just don't buy anything called GSXR and you'll probably do okay.

Carter Powersports is a good place. I've bought a few bikes there. Go in there and ask for Kenny. He is sales manager. Tell him some guys you met said he'd treat you right. He won't sell you the bike himself but will hand you off to a sales guy. You should get a better price going that way. I did the same thing and got my bike super cheap.

Have you ridden before? If not, be sure and get yourself some good gear. Cycle Gear is a good place for that.

Brian.

yes...i have been to Carter as well as the kawasaki and honda dealers on rancho....both places seemed cool...talked with a fellas named nate eldridge i thing...got his card somewhere...anyways...i have ridden a few sportbikes but most recently i had an 00 sportster and an 02 softail standard that was pretty tricked out...so i am no newbie to riding bikes but definitely not going to like the whole helmet thing

the whole bike thing is kind of tentative and is going to be based on if i can buy a house AND a bike....more then likely i will have to take the cash i have for the bike and put it down on the house...but ideally i am trying to finance it all...anyways.....talk to you fellas around

also...i am always out on lake mead boarding...black and white sky supreme with silver metal flames on it...later

we usually ride with jackets, gloves, helmet, boots at least enough to help out in case of a crash... I would strongly suggest it out here since the roads are slick as hell.... Just a suggestion especially when riding with us.

welcome to the board!! sounds like youll fit right in wakeboarding and all that!!

Personally I feel that the only people that have a problem with helmets are the ones who like the taste of bugs. :)

Seriously, the way most people ride a sportbike a helmet is a good idea.

as for a choice between the 600rr and the 636, ask yourself how much time you wil spend sitting on the bike - the 600rr has a brick for a seat, the 636 has a bit more padding.

The 636 isn't exactly comfortable either.. The seat really push's you and your children into the gas tank. If ya know what I mean.. Gotta protect thoes children :)

Ya, I wish I had a little extra money in my budget to pick one of thoes bikes up. Would definatly be nice to have more bikes to play with.

Granted, I should just add more junk to my current bike. Need to make it a little more pimped out.

That helmet thing might just save your life dude. You are an idiot to ride without one.
Save one guy some head injuries, no gear = road rash

all the pics are here

Hope this guys gets well soon. If anything positive came from this wreck it is that gear is good. I hate to see anyone crash and get hurt.
