Alright, so I just started riding and it's time to get all my gear. I live in NY so hot weather isn't that much of an issue. I've picked out some gear that I like and I was wondering if there's better or maybe something just isn't right for me. Any help is welcome, thanks =)

As for all the Joe Rocket gear, there's a dealer nearby me so it's easy for me to go and order it, unless I can find a better deal elsewhere.

Again, any help is welcome, thanks in advance!

First, good job for getting gear. You must be way upstate in NY for it not to be hot. :)

I won't comment on the jacket and pants other than to say get what you will wear every time you get on the bike. Try it on first somewhere.

I would get better gloves. You pretty much get what you pay for so spring for something at least in the $80-100 range.

The RF-1000 is a good helmet, but you need to make sure that it fits your head shape well. Helmets are the most important thing to try on and size right before you buy. A helmet should fit snuggly but not overly tight with no "hot spots" (pressure points). With the chin strap fastened, you should be able to grab the chin bar and barely move the helmet on your head up/down plus side to side. The padding will give some while it breaks in so it might feel a little tight (especially in the cheeks) at first. Go into a shop and try them on. Once you find a model/size that feels good, leave it on for at least 15 minutes. Make sure it still feels good with no pressure points nor headache. When you take it off, look in a mirror and make sure there are no red marks on your face that will turn into pain over time.

Dammit don't say that! It's NEVER too hot for full leathers. It might be too hot for leathers, but it's never too hot for SKIN GRAFTS! :spank

wtf?!?!?!? I never said it was too hot for gear. I was only commenting that NY isn't known for "hot weather isn't that much of an issue" in the summer except for upstate. Read it again.

Don't get Joe Rocket gear, it's an absolute joke. Look at Teknic, Spidi, Dainese, RS Taichi, Kushitani, Vanson, Helimot, BKS, Alpinestars, or the like.
