Indian Motorcycle Brand Sold to UK's Stellican
Private-equity firm from UK with a history of turning around ailing brands gets rights to Indian Motorcycle brand and related intellectual property.

Stellican Limited, a British private-equity firm that specializes in acquiring and reinvigorating ailing companies with strong brand names, has acquired the rights to Indian Motorcycles's brand name, trademarks and other intellectual assets. The company, which has a Florida office, says that it plans to resume production of the motorcycles "as soon as possible" and that it will do so in the U.S.

Stellican decribes itself as "long-term brand builders." It has previously acquired and revived boat maker Chris-Craft, outboard motor maker Outboard Motor Corporation, other marine-oriented firms, a couple of European cash-register companies, and a Spanish soft-drink bottler.
