Hmmm, well im due for new tires this year so Ill have to give the power pures a try. Are they essentially the same tire?
better grip and lighter for less rotating mass.

On a race tire discussion the michelin rep told me last year the power one was going out of production and they had an even lighter tire to replace it with. I quite liked the one day i spent on the power ones, they let me get away with probably more then i deserve. I actually love the bridgestone tires too but the 250 slicks aren't exactly right for an SV, and in high speed knee down corners the 003RS didn't give me quite the confidence i was looking for.

no idea but given that i'm pretty much certain theres a considerable price difference i'd just stay with the 2ct. I cant imagine needing more performance on the street then what those offer.

I think this is 016 replacement.

I think their 003RS or 003 is more of a direct competition with the Q2 in terms of performance.
the 003 is slowly being discontinued. It's being replaced by the R10.

Dave Moss prefers the R10 over the 003s. Says it has more of an aggressive profile.

My prediction is it will feel just like the BT-016 Pro, with decent feel, good stability, non-twitchy progressive turning, and poor treadlife (like most hypersports). I have kinda become a Bridgestone guy, having tried Dunlops and Metzlers; had the BT-016 OEM, 016 aftermarket, 016 Pro, now looking to try the S20's soon. Looks like they have done away with the (3LC-5Zone) Std 016 tread since the 016 Pro (2LC-3Zone) , and are continuing this trend with the S20.
What's the difference between the aftermarket BT016 and BT016 Pro? I can find any info on them...

Same profile, tread pattern, carcass, etc. But, different rubber compound and only 3 zones (pro) instead of 5 zones (old 016). The new silica based compound is better in the rain and has a wider temperature range, where the old 016 had some fussiness in cold or wet, the 016 pro is more predictable across various conditions. Tread wear is supposedly longer; maybe, I couldn't really tell, pros wear pretty fast on the rear also, but front supposedly the much improved for life, that does seem to be true, looks like my front will last 4000-5000 miles.

What about them was wrong? I tried them when I had my SV. They are really tall (which isn't a bad thing on an SV), but I had no problems with them that weren't created by me. There's a lot of fast guys out there on SV's who use the Bridgestone slicks.

I was curious what you meant. Is it the size? Because I thought that the slick fit the narrow SV rim about as well as any other race tire I've used. That's kinda one of my complaints with the SV. The rear wheel is too narrow and it's harder on tires (for me) than it should be.

Exactly what you're saying. More of a personal problem, i'm a bit chicken with the throttle mid corner and ham fisted on exit. When i went from the 003 RS which i got 6-7 TD's out of and then still sold with tons of life as a street tire, i put 3 on the slick and had shredded the rear tire to bits. Having similar problems with other tires but no where near as bad, and picking up the throttle sooner and earlier is helping. The compound was really soft on the stones too, a bit softer then i needed, which could be 100% responsible for the extra shredding.

That being said i found it way easier to get to the edge of the tire on both of the bridgestones then i do with the power ones.

My tire pressure gauge was broke, and I wound up over-inflating them. :(

They didn't even last a weekend because of it. So, I had no valuable experience with them. Actually, the only Bridgestones I've owned in the past eight or nine years besides the slicks were the tires that came stock on my 636. I wasn't particularly fond of them.

But tires are like everything else, it's kind of whatever you feel comfortable with.
