I see "roadster" is the new edgy name for "upright sport standard".

Yes. It's been the edgey name for convertible automobile for 60 years.

I think it looks really cool, but I like the boxer BMWs. But do spoke wheels mean tube tires? Where can you find mainstream tube type street tires these days?

I know the spoked wheels Ducati used on the sport classics were tubeless. They just had something to seal the spoke bed.

Not too shabby looking. I don't care for the looks of boxer engines though. They look like tumors growing out of the side of the bike.

It's not bad. I had a 2002 R1150R and it was a good bike. I'm glad they did a model to celebrate the 90th year of boxer motorcycles. They are one of the oldest brands on the world, so celebrating heritage is fine. Because I'm stuck at work and bored I looked up the major brands:

BMW - started production in 1923
Kawasaki - founded as a merger with Japan's oldest brand (Meguro) in 1962. Meguro founded in 1937
Yamaha - 1955
Suzuki - 1959
Honda - 1949
Ducati - 1953
Triumph - produced first in house motorcycle in 1905. Went bankrupt and closed its doors in 1983. Current Triumph motorcycles relaunched in 1984.
aprilia - 1968
KTM - 1954
Moto Guzzi - 1921
Harley-Davidson - 1903
Indian - 1901. Went under in 1955. After many restarts now back owned by Polaris.

I see this NineT as basically being the retro version of the R1200R.
The NineT is to the R1200R as the Sport Classic was to the Monster.

The R1200R pretty much felt like a Monster with 100lbs of lead strapped to it.
I expect the NineT will pretty much feel like a Sport Classic with 100lbs of lead strapped to it.

It looks neato, but does not tempt me to make any jumps.
