Put a deposit down on a new 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 ABS in Candy Cascade Blue. Will be picking her up in a couple of weeks. Can't wait.

What's that? And what do those sprocket nuts do (I'm guessing, weight reduction?).

And what do you do for the military? Seems like you do clean work on your bike. It seems the Ninja 1000 is an excellent sport tourer from its technical specs. I'm sure some of the Kawasaki guys are taking notes.
The RAM Ball C14-07 on the clutch side that replaces one of the bolts on the clutch clamps on the handle bar. Yes the sprocket nuts are just weight reduction, not that the OEM ones weigh that much either. When I was in the Air Force I was in Logistics. Just have an OCD for making things look clean. The only thing that I have left to install is the R&G stainless steel radiator guard that I picked up from Twisted Throttle. Thanks for the complements,

Looks good Jay. Did you run your pig tails from the fuse box? You can run the battery tender through the fuse box on the constant on side.

Did you calculate amp draw and supply from alternator? What Size Fuses Will you run? I'm a bit concerned with damaging a cell phone while charging. I think an inverter damaged a laptop of mine.

Everything is hooked up via a Twisted Throttle Power Hub. The GPS and Heated gear are running on a switched connection through the power hub. Which means they only operate while the bike is running. The Cigarette lighter plug in and the Battery Tender plug in are connected to the power hub using a constant power connection. This means they are always on. For the battery tender it means I can charge the battery and the cigarette lighter plug in can be used to run an air pump, charge my cellphone or my SENA Bluetooth unit without the bike running. The entire power hub has a 30 AMP fuse in the positive lead and each one of the four things has its own fuse in the power hub which is either in the switched or constant power position. I had five things running off the battery and the alternator on the 2006 ZZR600 that I owned. GPS, Radar detector, battery tender, heated gear, cigarette plug in. Never had an issue. Never had any issue with charging my cellphone using the cigarette lighter plug in.

New gel seats arrived yesterday morning. The passenger seat adds a nice touch with the "Ninja" embossment. Going for a very long ride today to test them out.

Had you done long rides without them? I've found switching positions and moving around makes a much better difference in comfort than seat type.

Rode about 275 miles yesterday. The new gel seat compared to the stock seat. Gel seat won hands downs. The stock seat is like sitting on a 2 X 4. Finally broke 500 miles on the bike yesterday. Time to change the oil and filter.
Now get ur dam passport so we can go into Canada this fall! LOL

David and I hit two border crossings and he does not have one either, else I would have knocked off a couple of Canadian provinces this trip.
Passport card came in the mail today!:nanaparty
I have about two more weeks, and mine should be here.:horse
Did the 500 mile oil and filter change this morning. The filter and the drain plug are located very nicely so I didn't need to remove any plastics to do the oil and filter change. The Ninja 1000 uses the exact same filter as the ZZR600. K&N KN-303, changed the oil with one 17mm socket. Rode about 150 miles today in the heat and got rained on the last 3 miles on my way home. Sure did feel good with the mesh gear I was wearing.
That K/N filter goes on a few Yamahas too. But not the S1000RR I currently own, of course.
Looks good. Much prefer the blue over the Ninja Green. I see too many of the green. Mind posting your impressions of the KTRC when you get your hands on her?

I've only experienced DTC and rarely rip her hard enough to activate it. I find in 1st gear it's like suddenly missing a cylinder sometimes it's that intrusive. But beyond that it's almost invisible (unless doing something insane like WOT over a pothole)
I have ridden my new 2014 Ninja 1000 ABS in both power modes and all three traction control modes and have even turned the traction control completely off. The majority of the time I ride in full power mode and traction control setting 1 which is the least intrusive of the three modes. I can tell a big difference is the way the bike accelerates with it completely turned off. If you turn the bike off and restart it the traction control automatically resets itself back to mode 1. I have ridden the bike in the rain with it in full power mode and traction control mode 3 which is the mode intrusive. You can really feel the electronics holding the power back on acceleration and deceleration. I have felt the ABS brakes kick in on the rear through feedback in the brake pedal, felt just like ABS kicking on my car, and actually keep me from skidding because I had applied too much rear brake pressure. Great feature IMO. So far I'm very pleased with my choice. Considering I was eye balling a Aprilia RSV1000R Factory in the same price range.

At the General Store in Rabbit Hash, Kentucky this past Sunday before it opened. The store has been there since 1831.

I would love to spend a few weeks motorcycling in the South. I had a blast in each trip I've taken.

This region is considered the "Midwest", although Kentucky is considered as part of the south. Northern Kentucky along the Ohio river has some pretty good roads with scenery of the Ohio river, which is where Rabbit Hash, KY is located. About 45 minutes from where I live in Indiana.

+1, the roads in this region are fantastic, there are great twisties that go for miles. Far away from traffic.

Finally got around to installing my R&G stainless steel radiator guard this weekend. Started the install on my new TomTom Rider GPS, need to run the power cable. I'll do that when I install my Oxford heated grips next weekend. Michelin Road Pilot 4's arrived yesterday. Going to work getting them changed next weekend. Also need to do an oil and filter change. The begging of the 2015 riding season is shaping up nicely. Can't wait to get back in the seat. I hate winter!
