Just curious - not sure if there are many track riders about here...

I'll be there both days - w/ the Aprilia, and a silver Mazda Tribute tow vehicle.

Cheers,

Road America for STT Aug. 11th...
black hawk probably late august...
I wish I could be there! :cry
Is anyone planning on spectating this weekend?
So anyone go? How was it?? Pictures???
Blackhawk was a blast. The weather was on the warm side (especially in black leathers!) but there was a nice breeze on Sunday.
As usual for Blackhawk, there were quite a few minor get-offs. One of the instructors (Fred Duncan) had a tire delaminate on him Sunday, causing an off in Turn 1... and John Malandorf (another instructor) had his front brakes fail on the exit of the carousel. Funny thing is that 2 sessions previous we swapped bikes! Both are okay, John's shoulder is a bit banged up.
There were a lot of "bumps" over the course of the day (including myself) and everyone seemed to be running quite fast. I heard the Beginner group was very fast come Sunday afternoon - a couple guys consistantly in the 1:26s.
I had an excellent weekend myself - got bumped to intermediate - and on the last session Sunday decided to get on the gas and dropped my weekend and all time best of 1:26.24 to a 1:23.88. I left a very happy camper!
I have some pictures I took myself, and Jack should have the event up later today at sliderphoto.com - I am #911 if anyone cares ;-)
Hopefully I'll make the 11th - I have to find out if I can get off of work.
Speaking of work...

Cheers,

Todd

How did you find out your lap times? I really don't have any idea what I was running when I did my track day. Did you have your own timer?
I was out there on my red SV650s... bumped from beginner to intermediate during the first "open" session (without Introductory riders). got bumped even though I hit a false neutral and pulled off the track halfway though my "leading" lap with a Control Rider.

#779 in sliderphoto pics...

I was there with quite a few people, including a Motor Cyclist staffer on a Suzuki-paid-for Gsxr750 as a long-termer (which crashed out mid afternoon).

Here's one of me that a buddy took... me on my stock SV650 running pirelli diablos...

todd... your exhaust sounds great... you pulled in front of me on the straight when I was playing tag-along with a CR. I remember seeing your black-taped lights a few times.
That's it! I'm doing another one this year. Credit card bills be damned!!! Are you guys planning on going again on a certain day? It would be great to know a few people down there when I went.
It looks like there is another session at Blackhawk on sept. 4 and 5. Anyone???
tanya and I MIGHT do that one... have to talk to her about it... but i know she wants to do another one this year as well.
Is one day usually more crowded then the other? I did the saturday last time and the beginner group was pretty large. Sunday sounds good to me though.
Hey guys -

I do have my own lap timer left over from my Kart racing days...
Thanks - Bonk - I remember you as well. Nice work on a box-stock SV. Do you run with NESBA much. Thanks for the compliment man! Let's run a session out next time...

BTW - How do you post pictures like that?!

Cheers,

Todd

I will definately be down at Blackhawk Sunday Sept 5th, and likely the 4th as well. I think Sundays are generally less crowded, and usually less crash-filled (at Blackhawk anyway), so I guess I'd reccomend Sunday from experience.
Third time out with NESBA. They're a great crew. I usually drop by their pits and shoot the fuzz for a while. Watch out for the older lady on the superhawk... she's silly.

I'm picking up tips as I continue "racing"... watched some video of me and lent an ear to the NESBA CRs and I'm planning on dropping some more lap time next time out.

I'm all for a round out there with you. But, I don't think I can keep up with that aprilia.

Now... anybody know where can I pick up/build a cheap lap timer?

If your really hurting for one, I bet you could just pick up a cheap digi watch with a lap counter on it and modify the button so it would be easier to hit with gloves on. Pick up some of that pipe insulation from a hardware store and put that on your bars and strap the watch around that. Hmm... I think I might have to try that.
Matt Drucker (Carol, #15 on the Superhawk, her son) sells them at a pretty reasonable price - $200 I think, and it includes time and date logging, track... etc.

Otherwise, check Franklin Motorsports on 27th just South of Drexel. It's mainly a karting shop - but a lap timer is a lap timer. I have the MyChron Lite, or AIM - I dunno, the yellow one...

Check EBAY?

I was gonna get one of MDs, so would you be interested in the MyChron?

Cheers,

Todd
