well, march 24th I got into a car accident. I was at fault, yada yada, that's a whole different thread. Now, it's time to do something about my truck sitting there racking up fees. the front left quarter panel is pretty crunched, but other than that it's okay. It'll cost me about $1000 to get it to my house to work on it, then probably over another grand to get it fixed back up. It's a 1993 ford ranger with 175,000 miles. Is it even worth it? I looked on kelley blue book and the truck is only worth 1,600 in excellent condition. Now here's the real bitch. it's my dads truck really, I've just been driving it for the last 2.5 years, and he can't find the title. I'd really rather just give him the 1500 or whatever and get rid of the truck altogether, give the title to the towing place and move on to shitting bricks about what's going to happen with the courts and all that shit. basically, I'm stressed and i may be missing something, so if anybody has any suggestions or anything, it would be really helpful.

Why would it cost you 1000 just to get to your house. If you can do the work it wont cost you over a grand to repair it. Granted it be the same as it was before, but as long as the core support isn't smashed too far back you can get away with a lot. Just get it so the hood closes and dont worry about things like fenders and rebars. If need be go to a junkyard and find the parts you nee/want to replace and put them on. Dont get em repainted unless you do it yourself.

Eh, looks like oyu fucked up the wheel well a bit and flattened your tire.

I wouldnt put over 1500 in fixing it unless its a solid running vehicle.

And seeing as how it looks like a Ford Ranger w/over 175,000 miles on it.....Im doubting its a solid running vehicle.

I'd get rid of it and start over. You can get a decent car for the money it would cost to get that one going again. Hell, I got my old escort for $1200 and it lasted me 3 years.

Definately say see-ya to it. That truck is only going to dig you balls deep in debt to put back together when it's not worth much. Just cut your losses to it and start over.

It's at my house now. My dad couldn't find the title, so we had to just take it so that it wasn't sitting there collecting impound fees and shit. I think it was up to 500 or so, and my dad rented a truck to take it to my house (about an hour away). I don't know how much it cost to rent the truck, so we'll see how it pans out. It looks like we'll see how bad it is over the weekend and see what'll be done with it. I think it looks worse than it really is, mostly the bumper being so fucked makes it look really bad.

Did the truck spew anything all over the ground? Radiator? Rad support? Tweaked frame rail? Take into account all the lights on the front truck, bumper, grill, and fenders, wheels and tires, etc etc. It could get very expensive very quick. It's got a ton of miles as it is, but I definately would take a closer look. Like you said, you have the title, it's yours, nothing can happen to it that you don't want.

Notice all the quick dry on the pavement. I'd suspect he need a new tranny cooler and or radiator. Core support probably needs pulled. I'd say the frame is straight. New headlights, grill, hood, left fender, bumper...
