Well, i ride with a small stunt group here in town and we have borrowed an xr50 for about a week from a friend. Another guy in the group bought a new one today so of course we wanted to ride it.

So i get to his house, get on the bike, and go down about 3 houses ridin a little wheelie with both feet down. i turn around, following my friend on the new 50. I look to the left and see a State Trooper stop at the stop sign (he lives probably 2 houses down from the stop sign), he gets out wearing his T-shirt and blue jeans and yells, "PARK IT NOW!" I was like "uhh, what?" He's like "PARK IT NOW OR ILL WRITE YOU A CITATION!" He really was in a pissy mood cuz his face looked like he was a drill seargent (sp?) and he sounded like he was yellin about ready to punch a hole through a window. So i drove off and rode in around the yard for 10 mins.

About 10 mins later, another KSP office drives by, goes to his house, stays for a few mins, and drives up to my buds house. we are are sittin the driveway workin on a new stunt bike we got and 2 damn troopers start up the driveway. They say they have gotten 4 calls about "wreckless motorcycle riding" and (there are probably 8-10 street bikes in a row) and we look at them and tell them, "we are just riding those little 50's, not the street bikes" so they pretty much say this is a warning, and next time, if they need to, they can have them "towed". WHAT A DICK! They say if it comes in contact with the street, it has to be licensed, insured, registered, etc etc..

Does a XR/CR50 have to be licensed, and tags and all that??? What about all these 12 year old kids riding scooters around?

BTW, if someone can find the actual laws on this, Im in Daviess County, KY

Yes. Of course it does. Has to have headlights, break lights, turn signals, etc. You just can't put a lawn mower engine into a go-kart frame and drive it to the damn mall. You can't go crusing around the loop in your Father's golf kart.
Actually, turn signals are NOT required here, and im talkin about a subdivision, not the damn "strip" or highway.

You're 20 years old and you're not familiar with what types of vehicles can be legally operated on city streets? You have to be kidding me. You're not the boy in the bubble, are you?
Thats obviously why I came here to ask the question about the laws. Read the title

I think you're a dick for taking an unlicensed, illegal vehicle and riding wheelies down a residential street. The difference between my opinion and yours is that mine is right.
I wouldnt have been upset it the guy wasnt such a bitch about it. He could have said, "hey pal, nice bike, but thats not legal for street use", NO, he had to be a dick about it.

Since i've been a kid, it's been OK for us to ride scooters around (at least subdivisions) without needing a license. Sometimes there are limits such as 2 brake horsepower, max speed of 30 mph, and engine size.

Ignorant about the law.... obviously thats what im tryin to find out, WHAT THE LAWS ARE, WHERE I CAN FIND THESE OUT.

Everyone is pissed at the cop. Let me tell you, if I was a homeowner on that street with kids trying to play outside, and guys were flying up and down the street with loud dirtbikes, the cops would seem like your fairy godmother.
We know lots of the nieghbors, there arent any kids around, and first gear wheelies dont go much faster than probably 5-7 mph anyway, not to mention they are 4 strokes and have mufflers and are quiet.

like i said, i wouldnt give a sh|t in the first place if he wasnt a bitch. Funny thing is, before i rode it, a guy rode down there and was talkin to a group of people. They were probably just drinkin and grillin out. Maybe thats why he was a dick, dunno, oh well, we'll just ride elsewhere
