I have an '06 ZX-6R, and I'm getting more into track riding. Any strong opinions on whether a new R6 or GSXR 750 would be significantly better? I'm also 6' tall and 200 lbs, so ergos are a consideration...

the new R6 is a better track bike but if you've already got the kawi then stick with it, the differences are minimal

Nope.... i don't think either would be significantly better.

At least not until you get really REALLY good. Then MAYBE possibly the R6 would turn just a tad bit better, and the GSXR may have a *little* bit more power for you to use.

But honestly? I hear the 636 is a dream on the track. It's what i would buy if i were going to go that route.

Or maybe an f4i because the parts are SOOOO easy to find, but not for performance reasons.

yeah I love my F4i for the track, hell I passed an 06 1000RR this weekend at Barber and kept ahead for the whole session! its all about the rider

I dont think it will matter what 06 bike you take to the track for quite a while

I picked up a magazine called Road Racing World that did a comparo. The R6 was the best at the track but we are literally talking fractions of seconds with professional drivers. I have the 6R as well and I love it.

your bike should be just fine on the track, just keep riding and improve your skills.

I would think you would be faster on your Kawi because it has more useable power/torque vs the R6... the R6 shines most above 11k and the suspension is very tweakable, but again I'm guessing you are a novice track person and things like suspension can get extremely complex for the average Joe... sounds like you want a good reason to justify buying a new/different bike in general...if you have the $$$ just do it.. you'll go stir crazy if you debate over what to do.. just pull the tr***** and buy the R6... i love mine, but it'll never see the track..
