So they had a sale going on last week, and I broke down and ordered one. There are enough bikes in the garage now that it was starting to make more sense, and I've got a ton of friends on the local forum who were dying for someone to break down and buy it.

I went for the Classic, cause I figured just because having the capability was the important point to me. I don't need the ultra-heavy-duty industrial sized version just for my garage. Plus I wanted to take up as little room as possible in the garage.

Well I gotta say: HOLY CRAP. I can't imagine why anybody would need a sturdier one just for their garage. Disturbingly stout with a really nice texturized finish. Unboxed it and put it all together in under 30 min. They have a complete assembly vid on their website, but you can put it together pretty easily from a single breakout illustration that packs in the box. There's a DVD included too with all the vids on the website, but the assembly instructions on the disc seemed to be from an older (different) version. Oh well.

I went for the Ultimate package too, that way I got the balancer and all that stuff. The balancer feels a little lighter weight than the rest of the machine, but I'm sure will do the job just fine. They also wanted to charge an extra $85 to get the large cones so I could balance the 1098 rear wheel. But the small and medium cones come in the box and should fit most wheels.

I haven't changed a tire with it yet, but I'm definitely satisfied with the purchase so far.

my buddy has one and it works quite well.

I had to change my last tire without a proper tire changer. What a nightmare.

yea it touches the rim. How else would it work?

I can't see a way to change a tire really if you could not touch the rim. :/

I have a feeling it would probably be just fine with cf rims.

If you have a thick plastic peice of something that is thin enough to slip between the rim and the tire you dont have to worry about clanking against the rim.

yeah thats basically it. all the contact points are this really hard plastic, so when it clamps down on the rim, theres no metal touching it.

all the plastic parts are lifetime guarantee too. if you start to mess them up, just send them back and no-mar will send you new ones for free.

I see the basic one thats $100 off for about $500, is that the sale thats going on?
Yep, thats the one. The 'ultimate' pack is $200 more and includes the balancer and a whole bunch of extra stuff. Extra clamps, weights, lube, valve core tool, etc. I didn't have any of that stuff, so i figured it would be easier just to get it all together.

Well I for sure have some 'ultimate' lube!

If I had my own garage and didn't live in a condo with shared parking I would snag that basic kit.
