Well I went and bought the 2010 Triumph 675 special edition. The bike is white with a navy blue frame and swing arm. In my opinion the best looking new bike out there. I'm still keeping my 05 636 but I'm converting it into a race bike. I actually just dropped it off today to have the suspension and safety wiring done.
I picked the bike up on Thursday and rode it home in the pouring rain. It rained friday and saturday too so I didn't get to really test it out until today. So I took it out and put over 150 miles on it today and here is a little review.
The Good:
The bike pulls from every gear and every rpm. Noticably more low end power than my 636. It's really a whole lot of fun. I'm absolutely smitten with it to be honest. Up top it's probably equal in power to my 636 which has a pc3 and slip on. The handling overall is also very good. The bike feels very light and turns in and transitions very easily. Fairly stable leaned over as well, however I haven't leaned it over all that hard yet. Stock suspension is pretty stiff. The sound of the triple when you're on the gas is also pretty damn cool!!!
The Bad:
Coming off of my 636 this bike is pretty uncomfortable when not at speed. If I'm just cruising or stop and go riding I find my self sliding forward and putting a lot more weight on my wrists than I'm used to. The seat isn't great but it's not terrible either. When riding semi-aggressively however the ergonomics are very good. The stiff suspension also means that bumps in the road are more harsh. Also, there's no place to strap my helmet when I get off the bike and there is ZERO storage. The passenger seat doesn't even come off. The front seat does but the battery is there and there's maybe room for a pack of cigarettes behind it(I don't smoke). Lastly the stock exhaust is pretty quiet and actually gives a whining sound at lower rpms.
Conclusion:
I'm in love all over again. This bike is just so much fun to ride. The drive out of the corners is awesome and the bike still has enough top end power to really haul ass. It handles great and I was at home with the feeling of the bike within 10 miles. I'm sure the bike will feel a little more comfortable after I get more aclimated to it and even if it doesn't it's not terrible and I bought a sport bike not a cruiser. Obviously I rode 150+ miles today and I'm fine so it's not a big deal. The other couple things are minor and me just being nitpicky. Also I'm gonna get a slip on so the sound should improve. I love the sound when I'm getting on it hard but otherwise it's a little too mild. Finally, the bike is just absolutely stunning in appearance. The white paint is awesome, and the frame and swingarm just make the bike look great.
Here's a shitty camera phone pic. I'm gonna get my buddy to take some better pics this week because this picture does the bike no justice.
