Nice...The more and more I see an FZ600 it makes me want to buy a new one..

xgabriel said:Keep in mind that my bike is from 1988 though. The newer FZ6 and FZ1 are a totally different animal.

xgabriel said:I decided to go for it and paint the wheels. Also, everyone really didn't like the blue muffler, and I finally came around and decided it needed to be black also. So here it is, with nice new reflective vinyl decals.

I love the looks of those old FZs. Would love to get one someday. I'd say your's is now a PERFECT example of what I'd want mine to look like. Good work!
crx81 said:What is everyone saying about the FZs? I wouldn't list the FZ6 as a good beginner's bike, and DEFINITELY NOT the FZ1.

And your FZ has more than 55. It probably has around 75-80.
Well, I wouldn't go as far as saying twice the hp, but it is around 98 at the crank. The FZ has a number of traits that make it non-new rider friendly. One is the abrupt throttle resonse due to the fuel injection. Couple that with a clutch that has such a narrow engagement range, it's more like an on / off switch. Also, the bike can be deceptively tame below 7K rpms. Above 7K, it screams like a banshee and will peel you off the bars if you aren't ready for the sudden change in demeanor. Lastly, it's a tall bike which makes it top heavy during low speed parking lot maneuvering.xgabriel said:I agree with you. My old 600 here has only about 55hp. The new FZ6 is more than twice that.

It's a great bike, and I'm not knocking it. I LOVED mine. I'm just saying it is definitely not a good choice for a new rider.
