There was alot of blood.. He died of serious head trama =\
So a helmet would have likely saved his life. He probably didn't want to mess up his hair though.

Helmet no helmet, running from the cops is not a good thing to do period. That alone prooves how bright that person was.
Running from cops, heart beat is way up, probably watching more behind than whats in front, judgement is clouded, passenger probably screaming for dear life. Just not a good situation.

Just another mark against motorcyclists. How nice....NOT!!!!

Passenger dies in motorcycle crash
00:00 am 7/29/05
Doug Erickson Wisconsin State Journal

FITCHBURG - A motorcycle that had been pursued by police crashed Thursday afternoon on Fish Hatchery Road, killing the male passenger.

Police said the driver of the motorcycle, Daniel W. Banks, 37, of Madison fled on foot after the crash but was caught a short time later about a mile away at the Fitchburg Ridge shopping center.

Fitchburg Police Lt. Chad Brecklin said he did not know whether police were chasing the motorcycle at the moment it crashed. However, about 15 minutes earlier, at 4:20 p.m., a town of Madison police officer started pursuing the motorcycle on Ski Lane near the Beltline, Brecklin said.

At some point, the town of Madison officer lost sight of the motorcycle. It was spotted again at about 4:35 p.m. by an officer at the intersection of Fish Hatchery Road and Highway PD, Brecklin said. Moments later, the motorcycle crashed while heading north on Fish Hatchery Road.

Police did not release details of how the crash happened.

Just prior to the driver's capture, a State Journal reporter and photographer saw Banks, bloodied and wet, stagger from a creek at Nine Springs Golf Course, about a half-mile from the crash site. He seemed disoriented and didn't respond when asked if he needed help. He headed in the direction of the shopping center and passed several golfers as he stumbled across the golf course.

Dane County Coroner John Stanley said the dead man, whose name was not released, sustained head injuries and died at the scene. Based on the extent of the injuries, it did not appear the man was wearing a helmet, Stanley said.

The crash site is near the Department of Natural Resources' Nevin Fish Hatchery and across from the Copps grocery store. The crash shut down both directions of traffic on Fish Hatchery Road for several hours.

Brecklin said Banks was being treated at a hospital Thursday night for injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. As of late Thursday night, he had not been booked into jail but was in police custody on a probation hold.

Brecklin said he did not know why the town of Madison initiated the pursuit. The town of Madison Police Department did not return a call seeking comment.

According to Wisconsin court records, since 1987, Banks has been convicted of among other things, bail jumping, escape, criminal damage to property, resisting a police officer, forgery, carrying a concealed weapon and sexual assault.

Wow, terrible that the passenger was the one who died... Guy had no control over what his buddy did and he's the one to suffer. Hope that rides the guys conscience forever, specially while he's sittin in jail.
