I WANT this! I like that you don't look like a weirdo when it goes off AND it won't go off when it's not supposed to...I hope:

I know it's gonna be pricey, but the money it saves in medical bills could be really worth it! I just want to be confident it will go off. A lot of money to spend on something if it don't work.

Ummm so how much force is it? Cuz in the event of a front side collision I don't want one of these things launching me backwards off of the bike.

I also can't watch the video where I am at which is why I am asking.

No no no! It's in the jacket! Bags are in the shoulders and chest I think. Anyway, the suit puffs up but from a crash picture you can hardly tell. Also it deflates right after. So even if you highside, you won't look crazy when your buddies come over. The other system I saw opens up like a balloon. Looks kind of silly. This thing is like Mercedes Benz safety tech for bike. VERY high tech and smart....or so they claim.

Considered it, still too pricy for me.
It's a matter of time before it become cheaper. Just the other day tire pressure sensors and navigation was high end, now even low end cars have them. Yesterday's "WOW!" is today's "so what?". lol

And just as the guy said in the video, a system targeted @ street riders will be available in the next 1 year.

I like it. As the OP said, what's considered expensive technology today will be inside every single leather suit in 5-10 years.

And might increase the price of leathers. And where you can wear leathers through multiple downs depending on the situation, are these airbags a one time use? If they are then how cost effective would it be to keep buying leathers for the air bags?

The Dainese are one time use, but are a lot cheaper. I believe the Alpinestars can deploy twice.

Heh- I'd rather spend an extra grand on a suit than have a broken collarbone or back, personally. And if you have insurance, they cover the price of your gear if you crash. So there you go.

If I could get a jacket with one of these in it for the street for under a grand, I'd totally do it. That's probably a few years out, but totally reasonable to expect eventually.

But still something to think about.
Sorry I kind misread you. The airbag unit is removable. When it is depleted you can send it off to the manufacturer to be recharged or swapped, I believe that is free of charge in most cases. Read a magazine article about them a while ago.

Might be fine for the race track but what usually causes severe injury or death on the street is bashing your helmet against an immovable object and snapping your neck. Broken ribs, arms and legs will heal.

It won't be. Crashing 3 times a season is expensive enough..

You get to crash TWICE per run/ride and then you send it back to A* for refill. I think it's covered under the insurance.

I would hope this would not be a problem for too many people because that would mean you crash a lot.

I'm thinking crash and can't ride while I heal OR crash and ride a little slower while you wait for your supersuit to get refitted. :)
