I'm a pretty new rider and i have a 2002 YZF-R6, that i have done absolutely no modifying to. If any one has suggestions or tips on things to try or parts they prefer when it comes to this type of bike, please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated!

1) Mod the rider, not the bike. The biggest performance improvements come from developing your skills. For almost all of us, the bike is not the limiting factor to what is possible, we are. Take advanced instruction like Lee Parks, get on the track and listen to their coaches, and practice!
2) Make sure your suspension is properly dialed in for your weight. You can do trial and error yourself, but spending a few dollars to have it set up by someone in your area who comes well recommended is a good investment. Your bike is 10 years old, so replacing the fork oil might be a good idea.
3) Maybe suspension upgrades, but unless you're really big, you should be fine on stock until you are riding very hard at the track.
4) Aesthetically, whatever makes you happy.
