I started it about 2 weeks ago via the automatic update (the only way to get it) but I haven't heard anything from my puter about installing it and my puter still says sp1 and to top it all off my puter is on almost all the time on a dsl connection so if it were working it should have been done by now....

so problems yea i think i might be having one.. but im not sure yet...

i just downloaded it on my xp home laptop. no probs so far. there are concerns that all the new security settings could mess up connections or the way that programs work. companies have taken steps to secure there networks already and are leary of the update messing things up.

Haven't downloaded it yet. But some friends have had it for a little time now and haven't had any problems with it. Never heard the whole XP problem with it. Who knows though. I'll be doing it myself in a couple days or so if I decide to not be lazy.

You may want to be careful if you decide to download SP2. If you have an illegal copy of XP, you will need a new product key. Microsoft has blacklisted most of the existing keys for the illegal copies. However, there are new keygens out there that will give you a working key. When you download SP2, and restart, it will not let you log into Windows until a good key is entered.

DONT GO THERE....... it has a ton of problems, let it age a bit. go to www.langa.com for more info and one of the BEST free comp info newsletters available.
Or you can have the great ability to have the privelage I do and get every single Miscrosoft product ever made and every new version put out with nothing wrong. Academic Alliance is a company that is in conjuction with Microsoft, so we get free hook ups from them... :twofinger

one of my pals is an assistant network monkey at his college. he's refused to install SP2 until it's 'ready' for fear of shit canning the network. would I install it after his advice? hell no and neither should you.

it downloaded on my last copy of XP. i say last copy, cuz the comp took a dump shortly after.

somehow 13 trjoans and about 35 registry hacks molested my system roughly 5-10min after SP2 was installed (i dont care what people say...it wasnt a coincidence). they somehow managed to break through 3 firewalls (router, Freedom, and Blackice) as well as avoid Norton's script detection. so as far as in concerned, SP2 will never touch this systm again.
