Sucks to be him. At my HS it wasn't uncommon at all for 18yr olds to hook up with 15yr olds. As long as it was consentual, I'm not gonna judge the kid.

Edit: Well, fook, I should read the article closer. The felony conviction was overturned. I thought the headline referred to the rape charge. Guess he's in the clear now. Good for him.

well hypothetically i would hope i would have raised my daughter so that she has enough self respect to not partake in such whorish activities, but in the event it was my daughter, and it was consentual, and he neither got her drunk, tricked her, or lied to her, and she was just being an out n out little cumslut than she would be the one who would feel my wrath and not him.

I will say I always understood what statutory rape was, though, and I was always scared of being accused of it...And ever since I turned old enough to go to jail, I avoided it...

I will also say it adhering to this standard is hard as hell, but it can be done...

What he did was a violation of the letter of the law But I dont think the law was intended to be used in this manner. The sex was consentual and he was not so much older as to use un due influence over her (shit they were both kids) I think there could have been a better way to handle this

Yeah from what I rememberhe was a student at the same school.. and the girl was scaared of her dad becuase he was racist so she made up the rape story.....

Also.. I saw where the prosecutor was interviewed and they asked him did he think it made sense that if the girl admitted it was consentual and that medical doctors said that the "injuries" that the girl had were consistent with normal sex that this kid should go to jail for something like that... and he was like of course it does!! I couldn't believe my ears when he said that!!

I'm originally from GA. I heard about this about 6 months ago and was embarrassed to say that I was from GA. It shows that racism still exists. The guy was a good student-athlete with a spot less record. The judge made his mind up before the case even went to trial. He should be shot and locked up not the teenager.

^^Yea i'm in GA now, moved here from the northeast 2 or so years ago, and it just amazes me how much racism and segregation are still rampant down here...

Statutory rape laws are designed to remove the possibility of consent from the minor. They are bright line tests: How old was she? How old were you? Did you have sex? Consent is not even an issue.

So, the law was intended to be used in this manner, regardless of whether an otherwise rising star was caught off-guard.
