$4000 in damage... crazy, it doesn't look that bad...

Anyway, looking at an 07 VFR Anniversary Edition. Will most likely get the factory saddlebags for it in blue. Racetech suspension upgrade for Street at my weight is around $250 total for front and rear. I thought about going all the way up to the FJR, but I don't think I want that yet. The 800 will likely be about the same to insure as my 650R - Same CC class, same classification... but is a significant upgrade in both sportiness and touring capability. Just waiting on the insurance and then we'll go from there.

When they do a crash estimate, they look at everything that's even scratched. "Oh, you have a scratch on your fork, you need new forks, $300. Your fairing is scratched, we price OEM, $2500", etc. My friends bike was estimated at around $3500 after he had a low speed lowside mainly due to the fairings. Took $100 to make it ridable and that was it.

VFR is a great choice. comfortable, yet sporty enough to have fun.

i would personally love a Concours 14 as a sport tourer. only $1,500 more than the vfr too.

My incident with the SUV and a curb was a $5100 dollar repair.

The only thing other then plastic and the bar end that was touched was a fork.

Have you considered buying it back? I've heard you can buy it back for 20 or 25% of what they pay it off at. Sounds mainly cosmetic from your other post. Just a thought. Glad you're OK.

That is easily fixable yourself. A big part of that $4000 is labor paying someone else to fix it. get parts off ebay and fix it yourself IMO. can't believe a little get off like that mandates a new bike. what a waste.

"Off". Not "of". Did I get them off my 10 speed. If you're going to try and ridicule someone, do it right.

Also, I can't tell if you're saying $300 is cheap or too expensive. So:

A.) It was just a number I threw out there for the most part just as an example.

B.) Forks for my 250 are anywhere from $70 to $250 whole, or an array of prices when it comes to singular pieces. For an outer fork tube replacement, which is what the shops would say would need replacing if there was any marks on them, for an 07 650r is $182.12 for each side. 2 X 182.12 = 364.24. That's funny, that's around $300 which is what I put... And depending on the extent of the internal damage along with the external marks, more or less parts may need to be replaced on one or either side. Again, my price was just an estimation I threw out there based on my knowledge at the time. Thanks for having me take the time to look up the actual prices to allow me know I was pretty much spot on price-wise.

Thought about it, but honestly, I've been looking to upgrade for a while now. If somebody wants to buy this for a track bike, let me know and I'll buy it back. Only non-cosmetic damage is one of the rotors is bent, needs new handlebars and brake pedal, and the fuel tank got bent enough that the cap won't open - but for a track bike you'd change out the locking cap for a quick fill anyway. I don't want the hassle of buying it back and trying to sell it, but if somebody wants it, let me know what you'd be willing to pay for it and I'll try to get it for that.

$120... but your tank looks fine? the only problem is you can't open the gas cap? you probably just need to take it off and mess with it. you can probably get it to work.

$50... if you're that anal about the rash.

the fairings can be painted...

so your damages are more like $400, not $4,000. stealerships WANT to total your bike so they can sell you a new one. Totaling is what they aim for in every case. Sales are their bread and butter, parts and service is just a pain in their ass.

it's totaled. got more than I paid for it a year ago though so I can't complain. Found an 06 VFR ABS in Black for $5800 with 3000 miles on it.... Still waiting on the insurance check though so can't move until all that's done.
