A liquid leather cleaner-conditioner made for saddles (NOT saddle soap though) is what was recommended for mine. Apply with a soft cloth, use enough elbow grease to clean off the bugs and stuff, then buff with a clean cloth. Works great. Probably doesn't make leather waterproof though.

Best place other than a leather shop is a tack store (specializes in horse saddles and other related "equipment"). Luggage store maybe? I got mine where I got my leathers.
