just started riding in mid '05 on a friends honda cbr 600rr, that after twisting his arm enough, i managed to take it over. it's been lightly down once or twice. fixing to start mild custom parts, rail sliders, some chrome here and there, etc. any suggestions/heads up about this model would be great.

I see your new so to SBN so welcome. I have no advice on your bike, but I will tell you some of the comments that you get might be harsh, but thats the way the some of the members are so don't take it to heart. Unless it is good advice. Like taking MSF Course!!

Very true. This place is going down hill fast with all the loosers on here. Way too many keyboard warriors just looking to piss people off.

PiPPiNiZED, The cbr 600rr is a very solid bike. Keep the engine maintained like the owner's manual says and it will last a long time. Post up some pictures.

wait, wait, wait... back the truck up! Your friend GAVE you th 600rr? If that is the case. don't do any mods until the title is changed over. And for God's sake be careful! A 600rr is a large bike to start out on (c'mon, you all were thinking it.. why didn't anybody say it). Oh, BTW... welcome to SBN, enjoy your stay!

Well probably not the best choice for a 1st bike but we all make mistakes.(me included) but now that you have it just be careful, take it slow and respect the power or else bad things can/will happen. Welcome to SBN. Do us all a favor and take it easy.

pull off a couple spark plug wires while you're learning, gentle as a lamb on CRACK!
j/k of course, so how did you "take this bike over"?
Your friend is either your blood brother, or rich, or insane if he let someone hop on his new bike :)
Good luck with it though, they are nice. just make sure and take the baby steps while learning everything.

That thing is pure sex in the unmolested state it is in.... PLEASE don't put ANY chrome on that thing!!!! it's entirely too clean looking with all the decals off and majority of the bike being black!!!!! anything you're thinking about chroming, have powdercoated BLACK as well!!!!!
