Saw this on my local craigslist site and was told by a buddy it would be a good starter bike. I'm familiar with SV's and have been interested into gettin one. Any input would help ... thanks.

I've seen newer model years cheaper/near the same price in my area.

Looks a bit "chopped" up. Wait, you'll find better ones for the same price. SV's are for sale ALL the time.

Maybe it's just me but I'm usually gun shy about buying bikes that previous owners have done major mods too....I usually end up taking it all apart to make sure it's right anyway..so me personally I'd rather start with a blank slate...meaing a stock bike.

And the price seems a bit to me..I see the naked SVs around here for @$2K all the time, especially come Fall / Winter.

it's majorly chopped to hell and back ...

I say go with a bike that is as next to stock as possible, I've seen them at that price in nearly mint condition and newer.

For that price in my area you could get a 2005 or 2006 in way better shape.
