Has anyone added a ignition advancer? Do they actually work? If so what degree were they (2, 4, 5)?

It says that the increase throttle reponse and mid-range power?

What do they actually do? Do they just extended your redline? I have heard like for example, your bike redlines at say 12000, with a ignition advancer, it will be more like 13000 or so. Is this true?

Thank you.

Usually they are set around +3 to +5 degrees

Yes the will help out the low end and a little bit on throttle response.

No it wont raise your redline as that is a function of the firmware in the ECU itself..

I used a 5 degree ignition advancer on a '92 Kat 1100 with great results. They don't "extend" the redline rpm's so forget that. What they will do is make a carbureted bike idle and run MUCH better when cold. Warmed up quicker so it was easier to ride. As for extra power? Nah, you won't get 1-2 hp out of them but the bike will "feel" better.
