I was out in the early afternoon at grattan raceway in michigan. i was feeeling good riding a nice comfortable pace when i really screwed up. I was going up the hill which is a blind right hander then into a left hander and on to the straight. i got on the gas maybe too hard and early and drifted twards the grass on the inside of the straight. i ended up hitting the grasswhich had a huge mud hole and ended up in a highside at about 115 mph. I landed on my head then my back and slid for a good 40 yards or so and my bike slid at least 100 yards while it tumbled also. I came out of it with a badly bruised ego but nothing else. my bike is most likely totaled and my leathers are done. The armor in the shoulders broke into 2 pieces and there are a ton of rips in my leather. Goes to show that gear is awsome.

Glad to here your OK, I know right where you did that.

I'm very curious, did the seams fail on the leathers, or were they actually ripped? I'm also curious what leather make and model you were wearing. I've been a huge advocate of buying leathers with triple and quadrupal stitched seams after I had a seam fail in a crash on my old leathers, it had double stitched seams.

I also know of someone who is very reputable that does motorcycle leather suit repairs and modifications. You could e-mail her some pictures and she could probably give you advice if they are salvagable or not and a rough cost estimate.

the brand of leathers were Alpinestar i think they are SP1 or something like that. it is a 2 piece suit. the back seam on the jacket ripped out but the shoulders actuall burned through the leather. Also the armour in the shoulders broke into 2 pieces on both sides.

also the pants on my leathers came out just fine so i just need to replace the jacket. My helmet is an hjc and i say it did a great job for me landing on my melon going that fast. My alpinestar gloves are done also. the carbon fiver knuckles wore all the way through. and ripped at the seem on my left hand.
