im not feeling very comfortable with taking it to more than 8 or 9 krpm.. it just sounds like im redlining it.. like its gonna blow apart..
maybe its cause im really used to drive a minivan, and i never take it to more than like 3500 rpm...
anyway how much do u rev urs 250?
lets hear some opinions.. :banana

depends on the situation. Around town I tool around at about 6, cruise at 8 or 9 on more interesting roads and take it higher when needed.

EDIT: riding a 250 brings out the sadist in you. You learn to love making it scream for mercy (and it's not REALLY screaming for mercy).

I usally ride in the 7-9k range. I have no worries taking it all the way up to the redline, although peak power ends at about 12.5-13K. Sometimes, such as mid corner, you will end up hitting 12-13K. Example if you enter the turn at 7 or 8 and accelerate all the way through you will probally end up around 12-13K. Long story short, keep the oil clean and dont worry about the higher RPMs. The way I look at it thats the Rev limiters Job!

1 Canadian dollar = 0.878889 U.S. dollars

WHOA, is that right? i googled it. it can't be. you changed your oil for that much?!?!!!!
OMG..........filter is like $4-$5 here, and oil is another few bucks. i only need less than 2 qts. Something's off, that can't be right.

well, back to the subject......i have an '06 and i'm usually at 6-10RPM. brought her up to redline maybe 2 or 3 times. she has like 2xx miles on her right now. i cruise on 6 gear whenever i can.

I do a lot of riding around town, I usually shift around 5-7k. But I do like to run the first few gears up to 9k every so often just for fun. When I got mine I thought they exact same thing like it was going to explode at 9k and there was still 4-5k to go yet! hahaha...

It seems to want to vibrate right around 9k, too.

This bike loves to abused...and taking it to 12 or 13 is not going to hurt it. It's actually good for it. I broke mine in following Kawi guidelines but the bike needs to be revved up once it's got over 800 or so miles on it. I love how it sounds all pissed off and starts screaming at you when you really open it up

When I had a 250 I revved the shit out of that crazy lawnmower! Yeah it's going to sound a little insane when you rev that high but you gotta do it, the bike will love it!!!

The power seems to be in the 7-12k range...anything over that is just overkill. You have to keep the Ninja250 up in revs to where that power is especially in the twisites.

They've been making the exact same bike (EX250) for over 15 years. The only thing I've ever heard about these bikes is that they're bulletproof. If you change the oil regularly then you can thrash it with a clean conscience. Better yet, put synthetic in and have no worries.

I have a friend that lives in San Mateo, CA, that bought a Ninja250 a couple of months ago as a first bike. I rode it while I was out there and I thought it was a lot of fun. The springs were way too soft for me (205 lbs without gear), so I had to be really smooth with my inputs, but it was still fun to ride. I was keeping it in the 9-12k range, where it had enough power to zip around. The extra 2k rpm is mostly there for over-rev, so you don't have to shift mid-turn and so you don't hit the rev-limiter while leaned over (NOT a good thing to do in a turn).

Bottom line: Beat that baby! That's what it was designed for!

80 bucks is way too much for an oil change. You can do it your self for less than 15 bucks and 20 minutes. This is assuming you use expensive oil! seriously its not hard at all and personally I am paranoid about having someone change my oil. I know folks that work in repair shops which have told me just how often the Noobs in charge of oil changes "forget" to put the oil back in before starting the engine. I am far from a mechanic but I try to do as much as I can myself. You will save yourself alot of money, get more riding time in, it will help you learn your bike and you will know its done right! all you need is basic hand tools and the service manual.

I used to hit my rev limiter in 1st and 2nd at least once every day going to and from work. :eek:nfloor
Ditto here, they really dont start making any power until 9k, so if you are below that you will never see the bikes potential! Mine seems to pull hard til 13,250 before it starts to drop off , and then the rev limiter kicks in just before 14k, crank it and love it man!
