TLR is up on horsepower and torque but the SV1000 weighs less and will handle better out of the box compared to the TLR. The TLR has a higher top speed as well. If you put an aftermarket race shock and damper on the TLR it'll handle significantly better then stock.
Not sure if it's because I'm a better rider or not but I ride my SV with a guy who has a TLR and I smoke him through the twisties. He isn't even in my rearviews anymore. As for straight line performance when we get on it I have no problems keeping up with him.

The Tlplanet people say TLR is better because it takes more skillls to ride (bike with more character). I think one that's easier to ride is better, so that's sv1000.
