From the research I've done, people tend to love this stuff- I'm curious WHAT exactly it is, and how it cleans so well AND polishes? Is it just a degreaser? Then I cant imagine people spraying this stuff on chains/etc....

They changed the formula a couple years ago epa stuff, doubt its as good. I have a can thats 5 years old, I use it for clear lense protection and cleaning, but really its cleaning is not that great imo for much else.

well thats good to know, especially with other people (on some websites I found) saying things like "I've given up water for cleaning, all I need to do is spray some Honda Polish and the bike is good as new!"

You'd think it was some sort of miracle product.

Also, it's worth noting (from the other research I did) that the ORIGINAL honda polish formula (before the change) is still sold by the same company, under a different name. Didnt save the link to it though.

I use it religiously.

Its exactly what it states, a spray and cleaner. And it is THAT good, plus its fairly inexpensive, running around $6 for that bottle (it also has a new 'look' to it, thats the older bottle). I havent heard of anyone using it on a chain though.

I use it on almost everything though - plastics, gas tank, fenders, exterior parts of engine, exhaust etc.

It works very well in removing the dirt and grime that accumulates underneath the tail section (near your license plate), yet it also works well in 'detailing' your bike after you wash it, leaving a very sleek and smooth finish on your fairings and such.

Ive also never used it on my windscreen or visor for my helmet.

Just to give you an idea...

Good to hear some differing views

I guess what I'm asking is what sort of solvent it is- if it's safe to use on lubricated parts?
I wouldn't.

The ease at which it removes chain crap tells me I don't really want it in my rollers. Most of the other bearings on the bike are sealed thought so its not that big of a deal.

Otherwise yeah, I use that shit on everything. Its the cleaning equivalent of Frank's Red Hot.

Water is a more effective cleaner than Honda Polish/cleaner, I tried it on dirt one time worthless as far as that, but its an okay quick polish/cleaner on clear lenses after of course cleaning with water or on already cleaned paint ready for some kind of polish.

It wont touch cleaning anything chain related, just buy a can , I too have seen many thrilled with the stuff, but I just dont see anything spectacular

I went out in the garage and tried to use Honda spray polish on chain grease, and sure enough it is effective as wd40 at disolving chain grease on rims.

I tried some bug residue on the front rim, but it wouldnt touch it, thats a water type removal

I like it, but I prefer the Motul Spray Wash and Wax. In my opinion it's more effective than the Honda polish. I seem to use less and I think it shines up a bit better.

It contain petroleum distillates, solvents and wax.
You don't want to use a penetrant on the chain. It will strip away any lubricant you have on your chain including the lubricant that is sealed behind the o rings of the chain.

For the most part, I no longer use water to clean my bike, I just spray it with Honda polish and it looks just like new.

People make claims like that because its true. Now if you don't clean your bike for 2 years or have 1/4" of dead bugs on it, it would be a lot easier to use water. But for the most part, I just use the Honda product. For $6 or so a can, why don't you just buy some and try it? I don't understand what the holdup is.

And for those of you that want a VERY slick and shiny finish, try using Honda Glare Polish. This stuff is about $25/bottle and makes your paint super slick.

You know, if you can find it, Trappey's Red Devil is every bit as good as Franks Red Hot and it's probably half as much, fyi. My dad and I switched over recently.

lol

I imagine I can. Truth to be told I rarely use hot-sauce. I was more referencing the comercial with the old lady saying "I'm put that (@#^ on eveything".
