It seems lately the telemarketers have been calling much more than usual. I know about the so called "Do not call" list, but have very little faith in it. Does anyone care to share some "colorful" ways to deal with these unwanted pests? :boid

The do not call list has been great to me. I haven't gotten a single telemarketer call except from the local fire dept and police dept, which are both causes that I support.
What you can do is ask the t'ter to give you their phone number and ask to call them back as you are busy. They will say no because they are at home or some other crap, but say oh so you wouldn't like to be bothered because you are busy? Now you know how I feel.
Another approach is to say take me off your list. If the same company calls back, you can sue them! They are required by law to remove you from their list if you request it.

Or what I do sometimes is say "Listen, i'm kinda busy...but if you give me your home number I'll give you a call when you are trying to enjoy the rest of your night after getting home from a stressful day at work"

It make a month or so to fully take effect. Let me tell you my phone would practically ring off the hook all day and week long, they would even leave messages. After I signed up, I get maybe 1 a week. :headbang

What I do usually is pick up the phone...
"hello" then they are like are so and so home Im like yea hold on.....
I wait a few seconds then I throw out a bloody terrifing ear piercing scream into the reciever...then I go hello and usually there is no answer hahahah :alky :flipa :boid to the telemarketers!

^^^^ haha +1 I do sumtin similar or go into a tirade of swearing and making threats that I know where they live and scream fuck off shit like tha..... fakin nuisence calls get abuse from me

Wait for them to go through their whole shpiel then say hold on can you repeat that I didn't have my hearing aid in. Or the one guy called selling home repair. Told him yeh I need windows, sure some siding too, oh yea roof is bad too. Then I said I need it done by tuesday. He says ok but i'll have to get a whole bunch of guys over there but why by tues. I said oh i'm filing for bankrupcy tues so i'd like to have it all done so i can report it. If i'm not busy I like doing shit like that cause the worst thing you can do to those guys is take up their time because time is money for them.

Glance at the caller ID. If it's unavailable or noticeably a telemarketer pick up and hang up. If they call back threaten to kill them.

Ask them for there home phone # so you can call them on there own time they will stop shortly after.
My favorite way though is to talk to them about my kids and keep changing the subject. They get pissed and hang up. Then call them back and pick up where you left off its good for a few laughs.

I go with the "time is money" scheme. Just say hold on, you have to get the head of the household. Sit down the phone and yell for the fake person. Then every so many minutes, yell for them again. This keeps the salesman on the line thinking a potential sale is coming to the phone. I like to see how long I can keep them on the line.
