well i just did my first oil change(600)
instead of yamalube i used a honda oil that a friend with a kawa636 told me
he uses it........
this could just be me ....but i have noticed a smooth revs....
unbelievable change in the way it shifts its smooth like an auto
downshifting , and upshifting are very nice
im sure the bike needs time to break in but i noticed a difference the
first time i took it for a spin
im now at 1100 miles and it just keeps getting better...
has anyone else seen a huge change sticking with yamalube
and i did my first wheelie.......im hooked how fast can we go and still
pull a wheelie.......i was in first gear... :beer

could you write exactly what oil it is, or take a picture of the can ?

Honda's stuff rocks. Is that the GN4 basic lube? The HP4 synth.? Or the HP4-M? What's the weight and vec.? 10W-40?

its the gn4 basic stuff 10w-40
i think its a black bottle with a gray and red label
here it is
http://www.honda.ca/MotorcycleEng/Accessories/GenuineHondaFluids/1200-CB66947.htm

GN4 is a petroleum-based motorcycle 4-stroke oil recommended for scooters, ATVs and motorcycles.
This is Honda's original motorcycle oil formula developed specifically for motorcycles and blended with an additive package to meet the unique shifting requirements of shared engine and transmission sump designs.

so i guess its true ........theres an additive package.....it must be better
then yamalube ....the shifting is 3x better then before

my bike is shifting so good at times i push up on the shifter and its so smooth
i didnt think it shifted....plus i would stall out from time to time
but now every time i take off is much easier and havent stalled yet
it feels more predictable...on stop and go driving
plus the loud shifting isnt nearly as bad and if i shift at about 5500rpm-6300
it doesnt make a sound at all.......

somebody give us some yamalube experences

I think I gotta try it out!

I've switched to Rotella synthetic already but the shifting hasn't changed.
Anyone know if I can switch to the honda lube without problems?

Stick with yamaha's viscosity recommendations, and pick whatever brand you like. I put in something different every time, just to see what the different oils are like. Too bad I can't remember what any of them were like, except the crap shifting during the one time I put the wrong weight (20W-50) in. I put Honda's HP4 in a couple of changes ago, and it felt fine.

It could just be that "new oil feeling" that you get when you take out the crappy old oil. Though I'm not sure how crappy the oil got in the first 600 miles (even with break-in).

so if your 20w-50 made shifting like crap
has anyone changed a thinner wieght like 10w-30
we should start a poll......

we need details my bike is a 05 (1200miles)
the clutch level has about a 1/4 play/throttle cable has 0 play(tight)
honda gn4 oil yamaha filter
oil may not be the only factor

-past yamalube oil<honda gn4 i love so far

lets see your lube and differences it made

That's usually what I attribute threads like this to.

After my 600 mile change with yamalube I could tell no difference at all. My old oil was pretty clean. I would like to go synthetic.

One thing I've noticed is that when I'm just cruising around town it seems to shift hard, but when I get off teh expressway after doing 70-80 for a few miles it shifts like silk.

Could that be the oil or what? Ive been trying to figure it out. Maybe the tempeture thining the oil. or just the heat.... I don't know. Anyone else notice this?
