I just bought a 1982 CB900 Custom, 29,000 miles overall engine sounds good runs good and shifts nice. I got it home and checked oil levels and found the gearbox very low. I added 80w to the full line and took it for a ride. I noticed gearlube coming out of the rubber vent hose for the gearbox. Can anyone help? I am an auto mechanic I can fix almost anything with the right info. I do not have any cross contamination with any fluids, I only have the fluid loss when riding only. It has to be in the gearbox. I do not have any service books yet. I am flying blind. I would like to get it fixed so I can feel that warm wind thru my hair,,,,you know that feeling. I am sure Honda has had this happen and I hope a reader here can help. I called the local dealers and all they will say is bring it in and let us charge you 150.00 to tell you whats wrong. The bike is only worth 800.00 and now I have to fix other stuff too so I need to fix it myself.
