I need a to replace the front rim on my 97 gsxr, there are none available in north america (new), I'm looking around at the local bike salvage shops, just wondering if anyone has purchased a used rim (pros/cons), would it be recommended. . .?
hmmmm......hate to say it, but did you try the stealership yet? When it comes to front rims, I gotta admit that I'd suck it up and pay the money for a properly installed/inspected rim.
Good luck, mang.
Just buy a rim from a place that garuntees it to be straight.
I trade out rims all the time. I make sure they are straight and if not, I straighten them.
This isnt rocket science and its easy to check. Spin the fucker and see if it wobbles or has a lip.
Fronts are a bit harder to come by as they are usually smacked into something in an accident but I seriously doubt youll have a problem finding a good wheel.
