I noticed last fall that my headlight wasn't working. This spring, I put a new battery in and fired up my bike and noticed it was working. I took it out the other day, and everything seemed fine. I was going to ride it at night and I noticed it was off again.

I took apart the headlight/turn signal switch and cleaned the contacts with some contact cleaner. I tried 2 know working bulbs, and swapped fuses and I couldn't get the light to turn on. The high beam indicator on the instrument cluster is not lit either. Does anyone know what it might be? I thinking:

1) Bad headlight switch
2) Starter relay switch <- what I suspect
3) Bad wire <- doubt it
4) Bad ignition start button

I could have sworn that last year, I was at least getting the high beam indicator light, now I have nothing. Any help guys/girls? I'm dying to ride...

My first check would be the switch. Use some spare wire and bypass it.

I went straight from the battery to the harness where the bulb plugs into and it lit up. I guess that proves that the bulb is good. When I touched the positive wire to the high beam side of the bulb, the high beam indicator on the instrument clused did light up. Any ideas?

Headlight switch, wire connection, headlight relay, sticky starter button (if your headlights go off when the starter is engaged).

FIXED. Opened up the right side switch where the starter switchs is. I found a broken wire. When I touched the wire to the contact, the light turned on.
