Anyone here from NC? I'm a Marine on Camp Lejeune and I carry my gun on my hip everywhere I go. I have a wife and son so I do it for personal protection.. I open carry which is legal in most places in NC so I never have an issue with it. I think people have no idea what to think though when i ride by them on my bike and they see a pistol on my hip... anyone against me doing this?

Also, if your not sure about the laws then go to OpenCarry.org - A Right Unexercised is a Right Lost! and they explain everything there or even go to the NC Firearm laws at NC Firearms Laws

I'm new to NC. I have gotten my CCW, but I don't carry much yet.

I am a firm believer in Open Carry, I think we'd have a lot less troubles with anti-gun folks if people got used to seeing weapons, and there is a huge deterrance effect

MANY gun people are openly hostile to open carry. They think we should hide it. Well, the gays figured out that you have to come out of the closet!

I'm not worried about it being taken away, I've trained in weapons retention, and other skills. I doubt many folks would mess with a Marine! I'm not worried about "scaring" people either - they need to get used to it. Are you doing anything with it? No.

I was dressed in shorts and a t-shirt, dirty, walked into a Subway open carrying in PA, you should have heard the fairly scuzzy employees - "yes sir, how may we help you sir?" "would you like anything else Sir?"...........etc. It was kinda fun. I think they figured I was a cop

whenever i go out with my wife and son and im carrying my pistol i always dress in some nice boots, nice pants, my shirt is tucked in and pistol on my right hip.. i try to look presentable.. ive had only a couple problems with open carrying.. i was at lowes for an hour and half trying to find stuff to fix up our house and when i was checking out a guy came up and was like "are you a marine", i said yes sir... he said "is that a real gun on your hip", i said "well i wouldnt be carrying a fake one".. then he was like JESUS CHRIST MARINE... he ended up calling someone and then started telling me i was breaking the law.... my wife went off on him and told him i wasnt.. i told the guy to buy his stuff and step outside so we dont make a scene... the douche nugget ended up being a sergeant and he called his lieutenant on me and they both were harassing me telling me i was breaking the law... they said i need a concealed carry permit to open carry!!!! i couldnt stop grinning the whole time because of how dumb they were.. i convinced them to call the cops and ask them or to :google the laws... it wasnt bad...

then last night i was at wal mart and bought some ammunition as always and the manager came up with 3 big men and was like sir i know its your constitutional right to carry but.... i stopped him and thanked him for recognizing that fact and told him i would put it in my car if it put him and others at ease.. he said thanks and that was it..

The only drawback I can see is that the placement of the gun can drastically increase the chances of breaking your hip if you go down.

I would suggest either changing to a thigh holster, which is less likely to cause serious injury; or keep the gun in a holster mounted to the bike in plain view of yourself where you can move it to your hip holster once you park.

Scissors,
Good thinking on the breaking the hip idea.. I'll have to give it a shot carry a thigh holster but i usally do that at work so doing it while riding my bike would be different.. I use my hip holster (CQC holster) because it's nice looking and comfortable..

I think I would have asked the Walmart Manager if he wanted me to take my business elsewhere.......

I'm certainly glad you didn't get in trouble with the military for carrying. They have funny rules for soldiers on their own time.

I have a friend that was CCW'ing a 1911, and it was a small of the back carry (dangerous to the spine if you fall)

Anyway, he's in the urinal in the men's room at a bar, when someone comes up and sucker punches him in the kidney. Or at least that's what they tried - they hit the 1911!

Fell to the floor in pain, probably broke their hand. He just walked out of the restroom as someone was coming in, just said "I think that guy on the floor is sick.........."

Too funny lol....

I called one of my higher ups and told them right away after the sergeant and lieutenant were done embarassing themselves in front me and and my boss just laughed.. My boss said as long as im not robbing anyone he doesnt care because it's my right to carry... The walmart manager was soo scared and nervous and the 3 b***** guys were just standing there hoping nothing happened lol... it wasn't bad.. I have no problem putting my gun away if the manager of the store asks... I had a woman come up to me once in the same wal mart when i was grocery shopping and told me to get rid of it... i looked at her and laughed... she was pissed at me.. i told her no and if she has a problem to get the manager...

No, that's when you drop everything you're about to buy, thank him for informing you that he doesn't value your business, and go elsewhere.

Yeah, draw that on someone with a real gun, find out what it feels like to be ventilated.
Canadians don't carry pistols around everywhere like you gun nuts. Also, it'd just be used for shooting at asshole cagers' windshields/windows, followed by speedy getaway lol
