i have a friend here in chicago, that would gladly race a stock GSXR1000. It's a 500ish RWHP car.Gixxerworld said:Scott_R6 not be to a asshole, but YES you would.
I am talkin about a 05 1000. Dude it wouldn't be fair to the car. A good/intermidate cyclist would dust that car off. that car would have to have a pro driver with everything CF with laughing gas. Does anyone beg to differ??????? Please make your statment. Let us not get into straps, lowering and shit(still stock).clearwaterms said:i have a friend here in chicago, that would gladly race a stock GSXR1000. It's a 500ish RWHP car.
A good rider on the street gets a stock GSXR1000 to go low 10's (I have seen it)
A good driver in a drag race setup mustang making that 500RWHP (assuming, it's tuned right, gearing is setup right, and it hooks) will go 9's or VERY close to it. Now, low 10 second gsxr 1000, vs a low 10 second car sounds about right.

Sounds like Sean and you need to come to Killa Cali. These guys are breaking 9's consistantly on stock Gixxers. I'm not into dragging that much, but just like I stated earlier it would be unfair to the car. Now if you are talling bout ethanol, $7000 gear boxes and not streetlegal, yes one would have to mod the bike but not that much to make it illegal. So less be real about dude. You are talking considerable amounts of mod's vs stock, no you are not talking about local strip rides. I am.:cheersclearwaterms said:Sean Alexander got the 05 GSXR 1000 to go 10.61 stock. that was the fastest of the four bikes this year at a drag strip. and it put down 158 horsepower. Now it's no secret that a properly setup car gets better traction off the line then a stock street bike (SS bikes are not setup for drag racing, they are geared WAY tall for road racing, there clutches are grabby, there wheel base is very short, etc) all of these things can be fixed, stretching and lowering a bike, going -2+4, etc. Now that bike weighs with a 160 pound rider, ~600 pounds (wet, with rider, and this is a guess) and makes a power to weight ratio of about 4 pounds per HP.
Now compare that to a 500RWHP car. something that probably weighs about 3000 pounds with driver and gas that has a power:weight ratio of about 6 pounds per HP. now, lets take into account the added traction of a car. the fact that a drag car (street legal, type thing) is going to have a gearing setup to take full advantage of it's powerband, it's going to launch harder and probably is only setup to go about 150, but will get to 135 by the end of the race track (1/4 mile)
now you have to be an EXCELLENT rider to get your GSXR1000 to go 10.60's, but lets be fair and assume equal skills rider to driver. 10.60's on a stock bike, vs a car that is probably prepped surface track capable of going somewhere VERY deep in the 10's, 10.10~10.20's. It's really a driver/riders race.
FYI, the types of cars that I am talking about, are not the same types that you see driving up and down the local strip. They are the types of cars that show up at midnight, with the owner holding a wad of cash, looking for some action. They sometimes come on trailers, and don't look/sound/or smell like the mustang your neighbor drives with flowmasters.
