firefighter81 said:BRAVO! Finally someone smart enough who knows what they are talking about posted. I'm gonna say it, flame me for it or whatever......STUNTING TAKES NO SKILLS!......Doing what his son does at 13 takes skills! Stunters are a bunch of no talent wannabe homies who are pissed that they can't ride with the real big boys. "Gee uh, lets twist the throttle hard and do a wheelie, or lets GRAB the front brake (not squeeze like we are taught to do) and have the back wheel go in the air!" Wheeeeeeeeeee, whoopty frikken doo. Every time I see one of these stunterz videos with them standing on the tank going down the street wearing nothing but a pair of jeans (no helmet either) it makes me sick that their are young kids out there who want to be like these numbskulls. My kid will be doing what the kid above is doing, if I ever catch him riding anything but a victory wheelie BYE BYE MOTORCYCLE! HELLO BELT!
Don't like my opinion? Fine, I don't care, I can outride 99% of those stunterz, and I'm not even THAT good yet. No skill, no talent, rejects.
Both take skill.....once you grasp this you will become a better man.firefighter81 said:Yeah, seriously TJT I'm not gonna flame you because it's against the rules. I will say it take MUCH more skill to race than it does to do stunts, PERIOD. No one else on this board will agree with you, you are WRONG. There is no arguing it. I'll admit stunting might take a shred of skill as far as balance and throttle control go, other than that, their a bunch of squids. I'd like to see you tell Rossi, Biaggi, Hayden, Gibernau, etc that doing wheelies and stoppies takes more skill than what they do.
This is by far the most intelligent post in this entire thread! :headbangLightWeaver said:you miss the point, man.
This isn't about kneedraggers vs stunters and the skill level involved for either.
It's about a 14 year old kid who has the potential to bring some serious media attention to our sport. Like it or not, we have a shitty bias in the media (undeserved? not exactly, but that's besides the point).
A 14 year old kid crashing/dying his bike will generate more and more negative attention that I personally wouldn't want to see. And it DOES directly affect me, in legislation, insurance costs, and general public perception.
Now when I hear that the kid's a stunter, fine. Do whatever the hell you like with your bike. When I hear that he can't touch the GROUND when astride? When he's running from the cops? That's when I start to get PISSED. Every single young stunter someday is going to have to go the straight and narrow path -- YOU CAN'T BE A REBEL FOREVER. SBN, at least, has a sizeable # of members who've already done this, and some of us see the stunter, FuckThaPolice, t-shirt and shorts crew as fuckin it up for the rest of us.
A 14 year old kid running from the cops, on a bike he's probably ridden for less than 6 months, is a perfect example. If I read about this cat's death in the papers, I'm gonna be hella pissed. Not just b/c he wiped, but because my life is gonna get more difficult.
Like it or not, we're all ambassadors of the sport, and should act like it. We're too loud, flashy, fast, and daredevilish to not be noticed. Wouldn't have it any other way.
One takes skill, the other takes stupidity. This is my opinion, if you don't agree with it fine. I already am an outstanding man, don't judge me because I don't agree with the validity of stunting as a "sport." I've done more and seen more in my 25 years to help mankind than you will do your entire life.RedlineJimmy said:Both take skill.....once you grasp this you will become a better man.
