If you ride up 128 towards the North Shore... it eventually turns into 2 lanes, that are usually not so busy. 128 will take you right into Gloucester. Very nice scenic area to ride, and right along the coast. And if you do it often enough, you will learn the back roads that way you can avoid most of the summer tourist traffic.

If you're north of town, I like Rt. 127 and Rt. 133. I rarely hit Rt. 62, but it's enjoyable.

Rt. 2 is just too straight for me. Plus there's a part in Concord and Lincoln where you have vehicles passing by you at high speeds without a center column or jersey barriers.

DOH! Sorry about that

Hey, are there specific roads i'd need to be on off Rt. 128 near Gloucester or is cruising Rt. 128 a good ride?
I usually ride the backroads to Beverly. Rt. 62, Rt. 1A.

Get on Rt. 127, or Rt. 133. Those are both fun roads. Rt. 127 is much more fun that 133 IMO.

I'll usually either get some speed on Rt. 128 on the return trip, or going there and then hitting the backroads (e.g. 127) on the way back.

I'm not too sure of any others. Def. keep me in the loop though. I'm always lookin' for new roads.

I've taken Rt. 62 from Burlington over towards the Rt. 2 area and that's not a bad ride. The road gets a little bad in the Bedford/Condord area.

My brother and I have been planning a route that goes from Nashua, NH to Methuen, MA via Daniel Webster Highway -> Rt. 113 going through Lowell -> Rt. 110. You would take Rt. 3 to get to Nashua and then I-93 junctions with Rt. 110 in Methuen. The great thing about this route is you're pretty much riding alongside the Merrimack River the entire time so the scenery is nice.

If you're looking for some ok twistie type roads. Come down to my area (Dedham, MA) which is just south of Boston. I know some really fun (secret) back roads with very minimial traffic on them. I have a fav route mapped out that I usually ride every weekend.

If your ever out west (Springfield Area) I know of some great roads that should be great to ride on, nice twisty mountain roads tha you dream about. I went to map them out on google map, but they're not showing up. They connect the farm land of outer East Longmeadow, with the hills of Hampden, and the farms of Somers, CT. I don have a bike, but I will soon, and it was fun just to drive my 280Z through there. The only issue would be the coyotes/deer.

I drive all over New England for work, been on probably every numbered road from Bridgeport to Bangor. Don't care much for the terrain in eastern Mass. Especially to the south. Once you get west of say Worcester it gets much better. From Boston you can make pike exit 9 (Sturbridge) in an hour. (Well, on saturday mornings :) ) From there go north or north west around the Quabbin, maybe hit vt or NH, and you can head back east on rt2. Or from Sturbridge you can take 131 to 169 and enjoy some great roads in north eastern Ct. Or if you've got all day you could hit Ma. RI, CT, NY, VT, ME and NH in the same day. A loop jumping on and off the pike and rt2 can do it. Good story to tell anyway...

While the quabbin area is good, there's some really good roads even further west, get off in the Berkshires, and then check out this site:

The Mt. Greylock (highest peak in MA) video looked sweet.

If you end up anywhere near Shelburne Falls and feel like a swim, check out the glacial potholes. Nothing else like it that Ive ever seen, and theres almost always good looking girls there.
