Hi guys,

Im new to riding and found this deal online, i was wondering if it's worth it even though i wont have my full license until May 2010. The guy is willing to part with it for 2500$ Canadien and it is in perfect condition with 11,000 Km on it. There is barley a scratch on it.

He is also willing to store it for me all winter. Should i jump on this or wait for a better deal ?

Lemme know guys !

Heh, it may sound strange, but I actually don't like to publicize what the bike is, just in case it would call attention to anyone at the Regie who might decide to add it. =P It shouldn't be hard to figure out what I have, though ;) I wouldn't recommend buying one, however, because it's twitchy, expensive to fix, and lots of things break. After 25,000+ km of experience (7k of which are on this bike - I bought it in the spring and it spent a month with a broken shock/frame), I still feel barely qualified to ride the thing, let alone push it to anywhere near its limits.

Below is a link to this year's list of blacklisted "high risk" motorcycles.

http://www.saaq.qc.ca/publications/immatriculation/list_moto.pdf

If you want something sporty but not "high risk," off the top of my head I'd suggest the Suzuki SV650 (GREAT bike if you can find one for a good price), Honda VFR, some years of Kawasaki ZX6 I believe didn't make the list, or the Yamaha FZ6. Most of these bikes will cost more than a YZF 600R, but many are also newer and you should save a lot of money in registration over just a couple of years (unless the gov't messes with the rules again, which I wouldn't bet against). They're still very quick bikes, though, and on the edge of what I'd consider reasonable as a first street bike.

If you don't plan on doing much highway riding, or just want to buy something you'll learn quickly on and then be able to resell without losing much money, I'd suggest looking at the new Ninja 250, too. It seems like a hell of a fun and economical bike ($4300 brand new, cheap tires, gas, plates and insurance), and I'd say it looks sportier than the YZF. I'm even toying with the idea of downgrading to one if I could ever find one to test ride. The Ninja 500 could be cheap and fun, as well, though personally I find it a little outdated. The big bikes are almost boring on the street unless you're risking life and/or license, and it's difficult to safely learn cornering skills on them. Think of it as sleeping with a porn star who, no matter how hard you go, shrugs and asks you whether you're done yet, compared to the slim neighbour girl who you can really make scream.

Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Wow... that list is crazy... now i can understand why its so bad down here. I'm probably gonna wait..
Hi guys,

I found another bike (more to my taste) but im not sure if it would be with it with the ammount of KM on it.

Montreal Motorcycles :: Montreal Used Motorcycles :: Listing

If you guys had the choice between the 2, which would you go for ?
I'm in Ottawa and daily browse craigslist, here are some from Toronto (only 4.5 hours from Mtl roughly - definitely worth a 45$ greyhound ticket for a good deal. Many more bikes there for sale than in Mtl or Ottawa). I tried to keep the price fairly low.

CBR 600 F4 for sale 3000 or best offer

2000 CBR F4 *MINT*

2001 YAMAHA R6

2002 HONDA CBR F4i $4800***PRICE DROP***MUST SELL ASAP!

CBRF4s (not F4Is so much) seem to go quite cheap, and are still great all-around bikes.

Yea, some pretty awesome deals! but since i dont have a license, i would have to pay transport costs for the bike :( ..

But I think i have decided to pick up a bike before the winter, simply becasue i think that everyone in the quebec region knows about the Registration increase to 1400$ and it's official... so the prices will prolly be better in Montreal just before winter and wont change to much in 2010 when the increase hits. I guess im sorta between those 2 bikes that i linked above, but leaning more towards the Yamaha...

Anyone think that i would be better off with the Suzuki ?
Sounds like BPro summed it up for you perfectly.

As stated though, make sure you take the MSF course.
well I just picked up an 04 with 6000 miles for 3g's and the only thing I had to do was put the newly painted fairings back on...Judge it on that. Bike was never layed down, I can tell, not a scratch on bend on anything just custom painted fairings....

Finally, got the bike checked out at the Yamaha dealer and they said it in top condition, but the rear break is at 50% which isn't much of a big deal $$ wise.

Here are some pics..

Awsome, definately wasnt a 600r fan but the color scheme is actually pretty damn cool.
Grats man! Send me a PM if you're ever in the Ottawa area and want to go riding!
haha that looks ace-- much cleaner than my POS 600R- but hey, it rides man, you're gonna like the YZF, very comfortable.
Thanks guys :) I can't wait till spring!

One more pic !!

wow it looks great. That beast will give u years of good riding.
that looks awesome, and it seems pretty much bone stock to me (dunno about the tires, but stock pipe and shovel seem to indicate that nothing has really been modded, since those are the first to go to anyone prone to changing things).

awesome, and ride safe.
The YZF is a rock solid bike. You can do most anything with it. I put over 40,000 miles on mine and it never needed any work. Its one of the best bike I have ever owned. (Pic of mine)

Read the ownes manual and follow it. Clean your chain like it says and forget all the crap you read online.

This bike has super strong brakes and is proven to out-stop most every other sportbike made.
