What do you guys do with your gear when you leave your bike in a parking lot? I see a few bikes at the local mall and they just set their helmets ontop of their gas tanks and lay their jackets over the seats but I'm to worries about my stuff getting stolen.

Depends on where I'm going. If the bike is within eye shot, I'll leave the gear there. Otherwise, it comes with me. Stuff gloves inside helmet, take helmet with me.

Most of my riding is recreation, not transportation. If I'm going somewhere where its a pain to deal with the gear with me, I just drive. In that case I probably don't want to be sweaty from leathers in 100-degree heat anyway.

I will ride to work though, but my gear can sit in my office so its not really a hassle.

gloves go in back pocket, jacket stays on my back (sh!t!), helmet is in my hand or if it is a quick stop in a safe place locked to the bike.

I just wear my junk around. I didn't get gear that makes me look like a power ranger and everything is fine. I usually have a backpack with me or I just cram things into my helmet and carry that around.

I have seen those people who just leave their crap sitting on top of their bike. Just asking to get things stolen IMO.

Usually carry everything but if we are going in a resturaunt or something helmets go on locks, we have a bicycle cable lock that we run through our jacket sleeves and lock to the bikes bars. Gloves go in helmets.

I have a cable lock on my frame. So when I get where I'm going I can wear the gear, or take it in and stash it somewhere, or lock it to the bike; whichever seems easiest where I happen to be.

gear goes with me, wear the jacket, carry the helmet always..

Leaving your helmet locked... someone cuts straps, someone's a jerk... pours some coke in it... Besides what if it rains (or is raining anyway?).

So I take it with me.

I saw someone on this board take the equivalent of a bicycle kind of slinky cable lock and run it through their jacket and helmet and lock it to their bike frame.. I am not sure I'd do that myself.... maybe that could work?

When I go to class I wear or carry my jacket with me, the gloves go in the backpack, and the helmet goes on the helmet lock under the seat with a grocery bag over it just in case it rains.

When I'm in town I do the same but I only put the grocery bag over it if I'm going to be somewhere more than an hour or it looks like rain is coming.

I think what I'm gonna do next season is go to the mall in full gear. Park the bike and keep everything on and walk around. if anything just to see the reaction on peoples faces.
If you do that you need to put a camera inside your helmet so we can see what there reaction would be.

or if you really wanted to look goofy you could put the camera on the out side like mybe on top or the side.

In the past i have used one of those cable locks to strap my jacket to the bike. I have the Scorpio alarm with the perimeter sensor so at least it would make some noise. I think theft of gear is a crime of opportunity more than anything. If someone sees loose gear, its just too easy to pass up, but if they have to work a little they will (hopefully) just leave it alone.

i do the cable thru the sleeves of the jacket and frame of the helmet thing. unless it's raining, then i wear/carry it. but as often as i can, i just leave it locked up. that shit gets heavy.
