I just installed a new chain on my bike. This is my first time doing this operation, so I might have screwed it up.

I lubed the warm chain with 80w90 gear oil on the rollers, outer surfaces and master link with a brush. I loaded the chain on the sprockets and clipped the master link shut. As I spun the rear wheel in the process of aligning it (still not done!) and tensioning the chain, I noticed that there was a lot of clicking coming from the front sprocket. It has a card-in-the-spokes type sound which is strong evidence that the noise is coming from the engagement of the chain and sprocket.

Is this clicking noise normal? Should I apply more lube? How else do I fix this?

did you get the right size chain? you can't put a 530 chain on a 520 sprocket. possible the front srocket guide is hitting the chain. take sprocket cover off and inspect.
