Hey all,

We have 4 trackdays coming up in NJ on the Thunderbolt Course.

Our Sept 21 date is already SOLD OUT, but Sept 22nd, Oct 5th, and Oct 6th all have space.

In case you missed it, we offer a FREE trial program for those that aren't sure if they would like to try the track. Preparation is minimal and you don't need full leathers... just good quality motorcycle specific apparel. (we do rent leathers if you prefer, though)

For no charge, you can attend the morning classroom session that all first timers attend. Then, you put on your gear and do the Follow the Leader session on the track. This is where an instructor will lead small groups around to show them the line, as well as how to get on and off the track safely.

Speeds start off real slow for these sessions, and each lap will increase slightly as the group gets more comfortable.

After the session is over, if you are totally stoked to ride, you can choose to sign up for the day (if it's not SOLD OUT).

Or if you don't feel comfortable, you can simply hang out for the rest of the day and attend all the classroom sessions. It's like getting a free training class!

Anyway, board members can email me to reserve a spot for the FREE PROGRAM. We only take about 5 per day so we don't crowd the paying riders.

Naturally, if you just want to sign up for the trackday, that is fine also. Remember, we have an entire program designed for first timers, and we generally get about 25 first timers at each of our events. In other words, don't feel like you'll be the only newbie on the track.

Also, you'll never have to go faster than you're comfortable with. The track is awesome with plenty of wide open passing areas, so you just go whatever speed you like, and others will go around you if they want.

Here's a little more about our track riding philosophy.

Still not convinced? Are you using one of these excuses to not get on the track?
Excuses

And finally, if you just want to come and check it out, spectating is free! Just show up and hang out and watch the day.

If anyone needs new rubber, we'll have Pirelli tires available at the track. For most sportbikes, we recommend the Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pros or the Pirelli Corsa III's. They give plenty of grip on the track and both work fine on the street, as well. Cost is about $300 per set, including mounting and balancing!

And if you need help getting your wheels on/off the bike, there's plenty of hands at the track. It's really a great environment where everyone is helpful... especially to first timers!

OK, guess that's enough. Check out my website for tons more info on preparation, dates, locations, registration, etc.

Jersey finally prevails, mwuahaha!!

Id like to take up on this, with a few questions though. If you just attend the morning classroom session and follow the leader, do you need to 'track' your bike? Registering for the follow the leader session guarantees you a spot, correct? And how are double compound tires on the track, just for slow-average speeds? Ive got PR2's with about 75% left.

Id most likely be riding down from north jersey (4 hr round trip) so its gonna be brutal, but I wanna ride track and if its just a follow the leader session for this year to learn the apex and such, Im down.

I ride 500 mile day trips frequently, its just moreso the parkway there, riding the track, being tired as fuck, and then having to come home. And Natty really hates slabbing it.

Plus dont you have a trailer or something? You cant compare that to riding there and back!

Would this beginner-oriented track day be suitable for absolute noobs (i.e. 5000ish miles under my belt)? I would really love to come.

I think it was mentioned in a interview that they have sessions at tonys track days where regular riders who are skeptical can come in and ride for free.

Sorry for the delay... not sure if you got your answers already, but I'll try to address some of the questions.

Our trackdays are perfect for fairly new riders. We have an entire program built around bringing your comfort level up slowly. We like to see about 3000 street miles before showing up... or previous dirt riding experience.

In other words, we are not the place to learn how to let the clutch out, etc. Go to MSF or something first. :)

But as long as you can comfortably control your bike at street speeds, we can work with you.

Bike prep for the FREE TRIAL is minimal. Tape/remove mirrors and tape/unplug brake light.

If you decide to stay and ride, then you'll have to also have the hose clamp on your oil filter (assuming you have an external oil filter). Bring a suitably sized hose clamp with you, or just do this ahead of time. It costs about 2 bucks and takes about 3 minutes.

The FREE trial program reservation does NOT guarantee you a spot. If the day is SOLD OUT, you would be out of luck... unless of course someone didn't show up.

With that in mind, the first day of our two day events are generally SOLD OUT prior to the event. Conversely, the second days almost never sell out. Keep in mind, however, that paying for your trackday in advance saves you $40. In the last 2 weeks or so, and at the event, the price is higher.

For the upcoming Jersey dates on Sept 21 and 22, the first day is sold out while the second has room. Doing the free program on the second day is recommended... you'll get lots of personal attention.

Definitely bring some cash though... almost everyone wants to ride the whole day after the FREE session. :)

Hope this helps. Remember that fastest way to get an answer is to email me from my website. And that is the only way to register for the FREE TRIAL.

Thanks and hope to see some of you there! :banana

That would be nice.

Or you can stop complaining there are no good roads in Jersey and actually come riding with us sometime..

When?

Thing is that I work 6 day weeks usually, and its pretty hard to get out of. That is the reason I haven't been around much.
