Customers to Enjoy a De-light-ful New Experience at Starbucks

Company Introduces Frappuccino Light Blended Coffee with First North America Sampling Day

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 2004--Starbucks Coffee Company (Nasdaq:SBUX - News) will premiere its new Frappuccino® Light blended coffee with the company's first ever North America sampling day. On June 30, 2004, customers are invited to visit any U.S. or Canadian company-operated retail store to indulge in a complimentary sample of Starbucks latest innovation in handcrafted blended beverages.

"We're thrilled to extend our beverage menu and offer our customers a new Frappuccino® blended coffee option that is lower in calories and fat," said Jim Donald, Starbucks president, North America. "We hope to see our regulars as well as new customers stop by our stores to sample this new blended treat during our special sampling day."

Frappuccino® Light blended coffee will be featured in three delicious handcrafted flavors:

Coffee Frappuccino® Light blended coffee - A blend of Starbucks® coffee, milk and ice
Mocha Frappuccino® Light blended coffee - Starbucks® coffee and rich chocolate, blended with ice
Caramel Frappuccino® Light blended coffee - Starbucks® coffee and caramel, blended with ice and topped with a creamy caramel drizzle
In addition to the featured flavors, customers will have the option of ordering the other Frappuccino® blended coffee flavors in a Light version. This includes the new summer 2004 flavors, Java Chip and Caffe Vanilla.

Frappuccino® Light blended coffee was created in response to customer requests for a lighter blended coffee option with the same delicious taste. With 42 percent of Americans reducing the fat in their diet and 33 percent saying products low in calories strongly influence purchasing decisions(a), Frappuccino Light blended coffee is a perfect addition to the range of menu options Starbucks offers to fit varied lifestyles. Frappuccino Light blended coffee has 30-40 percent fewer calories than the original Frappuccino blended coffee beverage. Complete nutrition information for the new beverage will be available online at beginning June 30.

Its great.. but I am not a Coffee drinker.. only time you see me at Starbucks is to use the washroom :)
