First time doing my fork seals and I’ve watched a ton of vids showing the removal of the seal retainer rings but it seems that my seal has ridden up along side the ring. It seems that all the pics I see of the ring shows it clearly above the seal however I have to dig into the seal and I can’t even budge the ring. Am I crazy or this is normal..?!?

You have to remove the dust seal before you can get to the oil seal clip, then remove the oil seal clip, then the oil seal is under that. The factory service manual only suggests that a flat head screwdriver is used to remove the oil seal clip.

I've never done the job, so can't help much beyond that. Looks like you got the dust seal off ok. Pretty normal looking lock ring.

Have you already removed the bolt from the bottom of the fork and drained the oil?

I managed to get it, I just had to keep driving the seal back down under the ring 👍 Not sure how it got jammed so high up..
