So I’ve been thinking…

This has to be the most civilized Internet board I have seen and participate in. Also, the geographical dispersion of the people on this board, along with the perceived good-naturedness of most here is very interesting and has me thinking. (I must say I am also something of an idealist and dare I say, even naive at times...so just humor me) :rolleyes

Well here is what I have been thinking... Given that I am separated, I now live in a fairly sized house with my two kids half the time. I have a room in the basement that has its own bathroom...

See me coming?

Anyways, Montreal is a nice City and has lots to do in the summer. There’s F1 grand prix week-end, the largest Jazz festival in the world, a huge comedy fest, etc... There’s something to do every week-end in Montreal. Now, given my situation, I’m thinking that I wouldn’t mind (actually, I’d enjoy) having someone from this board (someone with a track record -500+ posts, demonstrated non-arseholeness from posts- a couple, maybe even three people) sleep-over for a day or two. They could leave the motorcycle(s) in the garage and take a taxi or public transit downtown, which is about 10 miles. So this is one-side of my proposition.

The other? Well, I am planning a three week trip this summer (on the Fizzer) with a riding buddy (he on a Kawa Z750S). We are still in the early stages of planning but it looks now that we will make our way to Chicago and continue on Route 66, visit the Grand Canyon area, go North to BC and back. :banana Trip is planned from July 10th to 30th.

Well though money is not a huge issue, I’m thinking that I’d would gladly accept the reciprocal. Not only would it be interesting to meet some of the people here along the way and it provide a nice diversion, the idea of spending three weeks with my buddy non-stop is spooking me... :lao

So waddaya think! Am I ready for the nut house? Without prejudice, anyone think they might be interested?

Note: I am not thinking quid pro quo here, meaning I am open to receiving someone who will not necessarily return the favor.

Comments welcome....

WARNING! WARNING! HIJACK ALERT!!!
Sorry, I just gotta know... How does your buddy like the Z750s? What do YOU think of it in comparison to the FZ6? Just curious, as that is the bike I went looking for when I got the FZ. Turned out that the Z750 wasn't released yet, but the FZ was sitting there and it was love at first sight. :D

I've never ridden his, nor him mine. Kinda like golf clubs, they don't lend well...

Anyways, he does have more pulling power under hard acceleration. Once he gave me a lift backseat. I felt the thing was a bit more buzzy. He's up to 35,000 kms on his and no major problems... Overall, very similar.

If you and your buddy make it to the SoCal area you have an open invitation to use my place as a base to check out the Los Angeles scene. I live less than 5 miles from Disneyland, if that's of any interest to you.....

Quick story: I have a friend who live in S. Florida. Last July I flew to his house, drove from there to my home in California, drove back to Florida, then flew home. 6700 driving miles over a 20 day period. We saw it all. Best trip of my life!!

Take this adventure if you can.

Doesn't sound crazy at all. On the XJ forum there are seasonal carb clinics in various locations around North America, usually around 10 people show up at someone's house for a day of carb fixing up and other tuning, then some fun. I'm on the east coast, but if you head near Albany let me know.

very cool man, very cool. As you get closer to the date, post up again and I'll talk to the wife to see if you guys can crash here {Toronto, just off the 401} Might be too early in the trip for a rest stop, (only 4-5 hours from MTL} but the offers mostly there--hell, even a barbeque on my part might help the ride a wee bit. Now that i think about it, post FOR SURE before you go--the least I can do is hook up with you guys on the 401 and ride with ya to London or Windsor or something.
Cheers, and good luck!

Sounds like a good way to meet FZ6 friends. If ya come through the Seattle area a ride around Mt Rainier might be in order.
I DID put together the highly popular LOL '05 FZ6 rally... :lao
Its just a cell # away.

I don't have a spare room for ya, but I MIGHT be along your way. You should check out the Frappr map to see who's around where you'll be travelling. If the timing's right, I could hook up and ride with you for a few hours if you're travelling through/near the area.

I probably wouldn't open up my house to Ted Nugent... at least not if he looked like the Cat Scratch Fever cover... but I'ld open it up to Dave Paradis and friend. Stop on by... I'll take you on a tour of the US Air Force Museum (we let Canucks tour it) and show you what power to weight ratios do for things that really fly. It's sort of close to Chicago (7 hours or so).
