Ok, I need help finding a starting point. I am going to make my first mod on my virgin 06erGixxer-exhaust.
I'm am hearing and reading too many conflicting stories.
I am leaning on a Yoshi R55 system.
My dilemmas are:
1. Full, mid, or slip on only-where do I go and best bang for my $?
2. How about ecu mods/flashing/replacing-are any of these needed?
3. Over all, is it worth the $ to make the mod-not building a track bike or anything, just a nice toy that breathes and responds on demand?
Thanks in advance to any and all tips, suggestions, advice, opinions, etc.

If you spend the money on a full exhaust, you'll also be investing in a power commander and mapping. Is spending upwards of 2 grand worth a mild performance boost for an already well performing bike?
I'd just go with a slip on.

+1

I've had several slip-on systems, and one full yoshimura exhaust. If you're expecting some big noticable performance gain, a full system is going to disappoint (especially for the $$).

Just go with a slip. You'll get the look and sound you're looking for, just for a couple hundred bucks. With a slip-on, retuning and power commander are not necessary on most bikes.

If you want to spend a bunch of money on a drastic performance upgrade, you're better off selling the 600 and going with a 750.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input. I am planning on the mod and then track time. Unfortunately, the closest track is about 400+ miles away. I don't ride much anyway, it's taken me 5 months to put 300 miles on. I do want to learn from the experts about what the bike can do so I can get much more out of the bike with minimal $$. Again, thanks guys.

Change your sprockets then if your looking for bang for your buck.
+1 for sure.

A -1 front sprocket is the cheapest 'big smile' mod you can do. It'll feel like a completely different bike, and being a 600, you'll appreciate not having to slip it so much away from stop lights. Definitely a perfect first mod.

Honestly, I had been thinking about a chain/sproket upgrade but then realized the proper would/should include a speedhealer. Correct? I've read that if you change sprocets, speedhealer should go hand in hand. It helps keep the cops off your back.

Your bike is already 10% off. If you do a sprocket change just make a mental note of your real speeds with a buddy driving next to you, same difference. :cheers

Well, I snaged up a Scorpion slip on here from jtsgsxr. It was a good deal I believe. When I order my lowering link next week, i'm going to order a new 520 sprocket(-1 front) and chain combo. So far so good?

Well, I put the scorpion on and love it. Some say it's too loud, I think it's just a bit louder than stock. Today I'm picking up my K & N so the air flows in as good as it flows out. Velocity stacks anyone? Pros & cons?
