2003 GSX-R 750

All of a sudden, the FI warning lights starts blinking and my bike shuts down - usually at startup in the morning or when re-starting after a stop. It used to start up after turning off ignition, and on ignition, and the start button, but today, my bike is dead. It starts and stays on for 2 seconds and shuts down with red FI light blinking and the code is "FI".

Before taking to dealer or repair shop, and spending loads - can anyone tell me what the code means?

Thanks in advance

You can check the code by putting into dealer mode...The plug you are looking for is under the seat and has a rubber cap over it. Use a small paper clip and insert it just as the picture shows. Where the F1 was there will be a 'C' code...could be a number of things. I'll post the 'C' code list in a second for ya.

Thank you, will check it out next time it dies. When I went to test it, it started right up, so it appears the problem is reproducible regularly when its HOT.

I found code, please assist further

Ok, so the bike finally died again, this time I had a paper click ready to go and I had the read cover open and ready to go.

Code is C23, which is the TIPOVER SENSOR. Do I just need to clean out the contacts or something or is it more serious?

Assuming the bike wasn't on its side, yes check the connections to the sensor. The sensor itself could also be bad.

Suzuki usually mounts their tip over sensors near the battery on the GSXR's. Find it, and make sure it is securely fastened the way it is supposed to be. Usually it will say "UP" or something on the unit, as it needs to be positioned correctly.

Last request for help before taking to the dealer$hip :(

After reading several posts online, I took the tip over sensor, and zip-tied each end of the bar inside so the metal ring never touches the metal part. In other words, I disabled the tip-over. Problem is still there though (bike dies).

Seems to be when I am moving only, never dies when idling. Seems to be when I am accelerating from a slow speed, after slowing down, like for a corner. Always seems to be when the bike is warm (display shows about 170 to 180 degrees). When it dies, the error code is always C23, but tip-over is disabled. Could it be a false code? Any other ideas?

I would recheck the "system" you've made for the tip over sensor or just replace the thing all together. The sensor is still active if it's killing the bike when it's assuming an angle greater or less the 0 degrees.
