Shut down as in bogged and died (fuel issue)? Or electrical failure?

What happens now? Do the lights come on? Does the starter turn the engine over but it doesn't start?

A little more info would help.

Sounds electrical. I'd start with the battery. Either use a volt meter to check the voltage with ignition off then on with starter pressed or take the battery in for a load check.

Sounds like the battery took a shit.
Did you have the battery on a charger over the winter?
If not, then the battery voltage probably wasn't enough to continue spark.
Check battery, that's probably what it is. :)

The same thing happen to me w/ a semi behind me on the rode. I was at a stop light and was rolling the throttle and the whole bike shut down electrically.

Took it in and the battery was dead but the alternater(or part that is like it) was working battery was just not holding the charge.

Sounds like u need a new battery, spend the extra and get Yuasa

Hope this helps
