That's a bullshit test, the driver of the Ferrari wasn't even trying. The Ferrari is faster around the track. Fucking 20 seconds slow my ass.
That guy just has a LOT of money and shows off. Doesn't know how to drive at all. I'm sure I could beat him on my 1999 Suzuki SV650 race bike.

i don't think they truly ran head - to - head. just a few scenes for the vid. they were discussing lap times at the end like it wouldn't have mattered. but truly, they should have had a more competent driver han a weekend trackday rich guy. where's the Stig when you need him?

Yeah, I think they ran separately and then did some shots for the video.
The Stig? Fuck him, Clarkson is a *** and he hates bikes...he would do everything for the bike to lose. He would invent some stupid and silly test, like he always does, to put the bike at disadvantage. Top Gear FTL.
Fifth Gear on the other hand...I've always considered Tiff as a much more serious guy than Clarkson...but he doesn't have all the Clarkson cockmunchers, so he isn't cool.

I agree with everyone except, its very possible the bike could be faster. The problem is the comparison. The Desmosedici about the best/most exotic street bike you can get your hands on. I can't think of any bikes that come close.
The ferrari however, is not the best exotic street car you can buy. For 190k its kind of in the low price realm of exotics. Maybe it'd be a good comparison to a top end aprilia/MV.

The thing is, depending on the track, the F430 is actually faster than the Enzo, which is the top tier Ferrari.

Part of the allure of the comparison is putting Italy's finest against each other. "Ducati vs Ferrari" is much more appealing to the general audience than "MotoCzysz C1 vs SSC Ultimate Aero", for example.

I'd love to see Top Gear do this again. The last time they did a bike/car race it was awesome and the track made the difference in the end.

Never thought I'd say this but that Ferrari sounded like crap compared to the bellow of the Duc.
And whoever was driving the 430 looked to be lollygagging quite a bit, missing apexes and not even really pushing it at all, just from the few shots they showed of it in motion.

What was the last time TG did a car vs bike? All the last comparisons were made by Fifth Gear...and the bike won all of them, except for the GSX-R1000 vs Westfield XTR (Where the guys pitted a stock bike, not even allowing the rider to ajdust the suspension for his weight against a purpose built kit car with aeros in a tiny, slow track).
Clarkson has a hate against bikes and riders, just like he has a stupid hate for american cars.
Are those cars dependent on aero grip? If so, then it is another league. A car with aero grip will always be faster than a comparable bike.

A car has four braking points. bike usually only use the front brakes. In a track with many turns and hard corners, a car has the bike beat. The car can brake harder and later while the bike has to do all its braking way before the turn. The only way a bike can beat a good car is accelerating out of the turn and of course tracks with many fast turns. braking is what kills the bike. 4 wheels entering a corners are better than 2 wheels.

I think you meant to say was, on tracks with certain types of curves a car may be faster. I could show you plenty of tracks made of nothing but curves where a bike would dominate any car.
